Checked out this place in Astoria close to bf’s apartment. Pork gyro. TC walked me back one day and saw bZ, mentioned having read about it, so I decided to give it a go. Crisp, chewy edges with larger, more tender pieces of meat beneath the top, and a swipe of thick, delicious tzatziki sauce, all made better by the chopped romaine lettuce, onion and tomatoes, worked well together for a great sandwich. I can’t remember the last time I ate a gyro as a sandwich, but I managed to chow this all down happily. They knew how to wrap it, too; the bottom had a tight twist AND a napkin to catch errant juices, but never leaked or got on my hand.
Recommend. Great lunch deal too- $10 for the gyro, fries and a soda. It’s right off the Astoria Boulevard stop on the N train.

PS I went back today for lunch and got the bifteki sandwich – also very good, happy they let me get that as a lunch special deal (sandwich, soda, fries for $10), and the fries were very crispy and good – but I like the gyro more.
