Labor Day – Impromptu FBM Potluck

September 28, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 15 Comments

I have some of the most amazing, awesome friends in the world.  I’ve mentioned a few times here – and I’ll continue to mention as it’s true – that I’m recently going through a bit of a rough patch.  Without my friends to support and encourage me, I really don’t know where I’d be.  As it happens, I asked them about the Friday before Labor Day weekend, to see if anyone wanted to go to a movie, but Hungry one-upped me and suggested we watch movies at her place.

So we had an impromptu potluck.

Upon arrival, our esteemed hostess with the mostest had crackers, cheeses and salami laid out, ready for the early-comers (that would be the unemployed among us).  Smoked gouda?  Don’t mind if I do!

She also made a huge pot of pasta for us to nom.

Look at that.  It was rich, delicious, hearty… I hadn’t been eating much before this but I totally had a couple plates of this.  So good!

She also made a salad to accompany the pasta, and I really enjoyed the vinaigrette she made for the greens.

TC brought a huge selection of meats, cheeses, and chicken nuggets (inside joke) for us to enjoy.  Always above & beyond, that one.

I didn’t take photographs of what I brought, silly enough, but because I didn’t want to cook/prep food, I simply brought a lot of cookies.  Packaged ones.  Almondina cookies to be exact, which I’ve yet to post about but they are damn good.  Love how crisp and thin they are.

Much later in the evening, it was time for dessert.  Mr. M&P had earlier picked up a pie because Little Pie Company smelled so good – a blueberry pie.

CT brought over a fruit salad.

TT brought over BonChon wings – yum!

As I mentioned, TC always goes above and beyond – he also brought over three flavors of Talenti gelato.  Sea salt caramel screamed my name, and I totally answered.

The pie was good, but the sea salt caramel was amazing.  Rich, airy, and it had little bits of chocolate in it… that had caramel inside!  Oh my goodness, this was so good.  I definitely will be seeking them out to get more, because it was so good.  Not really salty – which is one of my problems with many salt caramels these days – but still, very good, and the little chocolate chunks with caramel inside were delicious.

Of course, we all got very drunk (starting the drinking at 1pm will do that to me) and had a blast playing card games and not watching movies… another excellent potluck!  Thanks to our host and hostess for offering up their new place for spillage (ha!), and for everyone for bringing such yummy goodies for us to eat!

You better eat. No upchucking either. Soothing stomachs only.

I can’t make any promises. I usually manage to eat while other people are around, but it doesn’t always stay down.

You should be friends with FeistySis. At the first notion of me not feeling well, she will insist I take Pepto. No thanks! 😛

As always, Hungry, an excellent hosting job by you and M&P! And my thumb has healed.

I’ll be sure to clear out the sink prior to Saturday for impromptu not-staying-downs. Also, I’ll stick to beer.

I prefer the toilet for reversals, and it’s your place, you should drink whatever the heck you want… ESPECIALLY because it’s your place and falling, spilling will all be on you.

That pasta had bacon, peas, tomato sauce, and boursin cheese.

The salad dressing was dijon mustard, shallots, and balsamic based. Season and add quality olive oil.

    Also, I’m awesome.

I keep falling asleep on the M&P throne. Oh so comfy. 😛

Thanks a lot for hosting, Hungry and M&P.
Great rounds of eating and card playing. Watching The League again was also nice.
