With only 8 home games left in the season (and who knows how many in the post), I thought I’d share with you my most recent visit to Yankee Stadium. I am fortunate enough to be blessed with friends like TT, who had tickets to this game but couldn’t go and thoughtfully shared them with me instead. Thanks TT!
Since he’d gone on his own at a game earlier this season, but we’d not gone at the last Yankees game together as my budget didn’t allow, this time, Beer Boor decided he wanted to get the meatball sandwich from Parm for a second time (he’d gotten it once at another game that I didn’t attend with him). For $14, well, I was happy to let him get one that I could photograph!
The center of the cart displays the rolls and fresh tomatoes on the vine. (And if you look really closely, you’ll find the answer to the question I Tweeted earlier that day: “Yvo Incognito: what do I wear when I don’t want to be recognized?”)
They also have two display sandwiches, I guess in case you don’t know what a turkey sandwich or a meatball parm sandwich looks like. Turkey was actually winning that day; a lot of people were ordering it.

Closer up…
Inside shot – fresh basil makes me happy.
And finally, a cross section. I was cajoled into taking a bite, just so I could report on how it tasted, though I wasn’t very hungry. Honestly? My bite was towards the end of the sandwich, but honestly? I don’t get the hype. It’s a seasoned burger with no crust, topped with parm-toppings (cheese, sauce, basil), served on a soft roll. The meat was pretty soft where I took a bite, and while it tastes good… I don’t think this is worth $14 at all. This gets a huge fat MEH from me. The texture was all one-note, and I really need more texture to my food than “soft” all throughout, even if the flavor was good.
Sorry Parm & Torrisi, but I’m ruling this a big PASS.
Note: Beer Boor thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich – at least twice now – and much like myself, he won’t spend money on something he doesn’t think tastes good. So I know he liked it quite a bit, and I’m sure he’ll chime in with his own thoughts as well, but personally, this didn’t do it for me.

you’re welcome! better to just give the tickets to friends then get a pittance for them.
nice Yankees hat! I have already forwarded this on to David.
Since I dropped money on the Lobel’s steak sandwich, I guess I would do the same at Parm.
Fresh herbs at a ballpark? CRAZY!

I wanna open a ‘parm’ shop. Parmo.

Make it family style too and get Tex,Arod,Amare&Strahan to invest.

Have you been to the Torrisi in SoHo yet? You should check it out. The sandwiches aren’t as expensive there, for one. I’m a huge fan of the chicken parm (never had the meatball), and my one dinner that I had there was outstanding. Give it another chance!

I was under the impression the meatball parm is a Stadium-only sandwich. It’s essentially a big meatball squashed flat and dressed up. Really big, like half a pound big. The point of this over a burger is the meat blend, which I’d guess is some pork, some veal by its texture. It could have been warmer, but we took our time getting to our seats, so I blame us.
Is it a $14 Stadium sandwich? Not quite. But it’s tasty, and it’s nice to alternate between this and a Lobel’s — though my previous visit I had one of each.
The turkey (very flavorful, juicy, everything you want in a turkey sandwich except the price tag) was winning 32-24 when I ordered my parm, and it was pretty close to game time by then.
I agree that the brick-and-mortar should be on the list.

Meatball parm is only available at the stadium. Also, this is a review of the stand at Yankee Stadium… not Torrisi’s store front. Two separate things 🙂

For the picture of the cross section, is that still pink inside?
Feisty Foodie says
Yes. Yes it is.
BeerBoor says
My first one weeks before wasn’t really pink at all, so it’s a variable sandwich.

i know the turkey sandwich sounds totally bland compared to the meatball parm, but i actually liked the turkey better. if you’re ever there again, try it.

First, long time no hear!
Second, I first went to Parm the weekend they opened at Yankee Stadium, and they had samples of the turkey. That was easily the best sandwich turkey I’ve ever tasted — just don’t know that it (or the meatball parm) is worth the $14. Maybe I’ll head to the restaurant for that!
