Luke’s Lobster Truck (Nauti)

July 19, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 14 Comments

When you walk by Luke’s Lobster, what do you do but stop and have a lobster roll?  After all the hype and positive press lately, I had to have one.

TC and I opted to split one, because we were on our way to get burgers at Brindle Room (review of our experience to come).  This is the lobster roll before they cut it in half for us.

Funny story: as I picked up my half of the lobster roll, a teeny tiny fruit fly flew into it.  I looked at it and debated picking it out, but realized I’d have to contend with getting mayo all over my hands, possibly not getting the fruit fly anyway, and maybe dropping lobster on the sidewalk.  So I ate the darn thing inside my lobster roll.  Nom nom nom- extra protein?

Not too much mayonnaise, and tons of lobster, I was pretty happy with my half.  Very fresh sweet lobster.  Love!

Yvo says: I enjoyed my half of the lobster roll very much (thanks TC!).  It was an interesting experience standing on the street facing Union Square and eating a lobster roll, trying not to drop it down my front.  Very tasty – if you see the truck, especially with no line as we saw it, you should definitely stop and get one!

don’t forget to mention that it is $16, but well worth it as the occasional treat.

Yeah, it’s $16, but I don’t think that’s a bad price. Considering how much lobster rolls in NYC usually are, the size&quality more than justify its price. Anything higher in price or smaller in size would have probably upset me (though I didn’t pay for it), but I thought this was fair.

I agree–Luke’s is a fair deal. I enjoy their lobster rolls very much, even if I could easily eat 10-15 of them.

I can eat a lot of seafood and not feel full. However, give me a lot of fried foods, and I will stop eating very quickly.

$16 is quite expensive for a sandwich, but this lobster roll doesn’t look like it skimps on the lobster! Darn those fruit flies. The lobster roll looks so good. 🙂

They definitely don’t. I know some places talk about how much lobster is in each one; not sure if Luke’s is one of those, but it could easily be the meat of one lobster.

I see that this post doesn’t have a “cheap eats” tag. 😛

Haha, I hesitated over that before I decided not to. Lobster is rarely included in cheap eats, even when I’ve paid $5.99/lb (or was it less?) on sale at Stew Leonard’s. I bought 5 lobsters that time… for about $25. Hehehe.

God damn I love lobster. And Luke’s makes a very good roll b/c I don’t really enjoy mayo. Hmm, I wonder how much is lobster now. Time to make my own rolls again. Yeah, I’m a high roller.

Very nice treat/ appetizer before our main course. Glad we got this. I saw the truck that evening and knew it had to be done. 😛
I might have to go hit up the store-front again sometime too.
