Whole Foods Soy Milk and Honey Crunch & Oats Cereal

January 31, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 1 Comment

Back in October, Whole Foods launched a new line of refrigerated soy milk (and almond milk, but I somehow grabbed two cartons of soy milk instead of one each; grr and oops).  I was sent a $10 gift card so I could sample the milk; I also picked up a box of cereal (conveniently located directly across the aisle from the soy milk refrigerator) to go with the two cartons.  The total came out to just under $10 – a carton of soy milk is only $2.99, way cheaper than what my neighborhood store charges for Silk!

A few mornings, I started off with the light soy milk and a bowl of the cereal.

The cereal was light and airy, crisp.

I added a little soy milk to the bowl.

I don’t know why I took so many pictures.

In any case, I found myself really enjoying the cereal itself, and the soy milk was light tasting.  It wasn’t as creamy as whole milk is, which is fine for an early morning meal.  I drank some on its own and found the texture similar to VitaSoy soy milk, but much less sweet, which in my case is a great thing since I don’t like things that are too sweet.

As for the chocolate milk, there was a ton of chocolate taste in the drink, though it had the slightest edge of chalkiness.  Perhaps only noticeable since I was looking for it (I really detest chalky chocolate milk – try saying that 5 times fast!), because otherwise it’s very faint.  I drank a glass happily until the carton was gone!

I’m happy that there are two new options for soy milk that are also inexpensive.  My local markets charge in the $5 range for the same size carton of soy milk, which is just outrageous.  Though I am not lactose intolerant, I always appreciate having dairy alternative for when my friends who are visit me, or just as an extra boost of protein.  I’ll definitely look for these again!

Please note that I received no monetary compensation for this post, nor was I obligated to post an opinion, positive or negative.  I express my own thoughts herein, and you are free to take from that as you will.  Thanks again to Lyndsey for this opportunity, courtesy of Whole Foods!

Good to know! Cheap and good soy milk – a rare combination! I literally just started eating cereal for breakfast again, so this post came at the perfect time!
