It’s press-related week – dedicated to a couple of press events or products that I’ve received for review, etc… I know how you all love reading about these 🙂
I recently attended an event showcasing Austrian products. I was most interested in the elderflower syrup and the pink grapefruit marmalade, so the people who organized the event kindly sent me over some to try.
As you may have realized, since Chez Panisse, I’ve been a little obsessed with elderflower soda. So I was especially excited to try the syrup – and promptly purchased plain seltzer to make my own soda. Elderflower syrup straight is ridiculously good, but let’s face it, no one should be drinking straight sugar. A bit of syrup (about a tablespoon), pour some seltzer over the top, and voila – instant soda. Adjust to your own sweetness levels – I like a little bit less sweet with just a hint of the elderflower flavor coming through. I’m definitely buying more when I finish with this bottle! Yum!
As for the pink grapefruit marmalade, interestingly, it was pretty tart and didn’t contain too much sugar (6mg per serving). A nice spread in the morning for an English muffin or scone for those of us who don’t like super sweet items! Perfect!
I received the above items free of charge but was under no obligation to post about them, nor did I receive monetary compensation to do so. I was free to post, not post, as I chose, and as always, I express only my honest opinion and nothing otherwise.

Yum! I’ve really been into elderflower cocktails too lately! Do you know where this can be purchased in the city?
