Though I’m leaving the area very soon, I was profiled for Downtown Lunch (complete with a full-face picture of me… if you’re interested in seeing what I look like, anyway) on Tuesday. Someone then kindly sent me a link to this Mac & Cheese Burger at Burger Shoppe and I was all, omg I have to eat that right away. I’m trying to make my last 7 lunches down here incredible and amazing, you see? SUPER-FRIKKIN’-FAIL when the guy behind the register told me (politely) that it was only available after 4pm upstairs at the bar, and since they’re all made to order, it takes 25 minutes to make. Ummm, what? He also told me that this is stated ‘in the fine print’ on the site, which I didn’t recall seeing, so I went back to my desk, opened the link, and discovered… he was wrong! Urban Daddy did not say any such thing!!! Burger Shoppe, you FAIL!!! I was so thrown, however, that I ordered a regular shoppe burger anyway, the cross section of which you can see above. Tasty… along with my strawberry milkshake and onion rings… but it wasn’t what I wanted. And had I not been so thrown, I might have remembered that Cravings was parked half a block away and gotten that instead, since it seems likely I will not be eating there again once I stop working in Manhattan. Boo.
If I wasn’t intent on photo-a-day being my last 7 lunches down here, I might have posted a photograph from my dinner with Cookie & Spicy Ninja. Instead, I’ll simply leave you with this blurb of conversation:
Spicy Ninja: “[awkward comment]”
Cookie: “Awkward turtle! Awkward turtle!”
Me: “Hehehehehehehe”
Cookie & I: [discussing awkward turtle because we both took a moment to remember how to do it]
Spicy Ninja: [silence]
Me: “Spicy Ninja, do you know what Awkward Turtle is?”
Spicy Ninja: “No… is it a yoga move?”
Me: “HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE no! That’s adorable!!!”
Spicy Ninja: “Oh! Is it a sex position?”
Me & Cookie: “Err? hehehe? No?”
Spicy Ninja: “…”
Maybe you had to be there. It was hysterical though. Hand pulled noodles and dumplings for dinner, yum! Yet another lovely day.

I was a bit behind on reading your blog, and I’m sad I didn’t realize you worked downtown until today. I work directly across from Battery Park and have a reeeeeeally hard time finding delicious lunch spots. I would’ve totally forced you to take me out sometime had I realized we were in the same neighborhood for lunch.
