Meatless Week 2 Recap!

March 16, 2009 by Feisty Foodie 1 Comment

It’s Monday morning.

I am looking down the barrel of the loaded shotgun that is week 3.  I thought I’d gotten over the hump last week, and even boasted to a friend that I was pretty sure I was past the hard part.

I was wrong.

Things are not going my way; culinarily nor in the rest of my life, and this week promises to be a rough one.  It’s not a good sign.

But you know, you’re here to read what I ate during Week 2, which was much less well-planned than Week 1, and has less pictures.  Not to hear me whine about how hard Week 3 is – we’ll check back in a week and see how Week 3 really turned out, right?

Saturday, 3/7/09 – Meatless Day 8

breakfast: one slice of whole grain toast schmeared with St. Andres triple creme (heaven!)
brunch: Mahi Mahi with cajun mayo, shoe string fries, 3 mimosas (review to come)
supper: 2 crostini, 1/2 bacalao frito, potato croquette, 1/2 arancini, a glass of moscato d’asti, and – shame! – a small piece of octopus (I know this isn’t fish; the friends with whom I was dining said “octopus is fish, just eat it! I cut you a piece already and it’s tiny!” [it was like an inch long from the tip of the tentacle, so not that big] – I’m sorry!!!)

Sunday, 3/8/09 – Meatless Day 9

lunch: one head of roasted broccoli
dinner: lemon dill salmon, cheesy corn relish, roasted broccoli
snack: nachos w/cheese at the movies (Watchmen)

Monday, 3/9/09 – Meatless Day 10

breakfast: one slice of whole grain toast w/green tea
lunch: bento #307
dinner: bento #308

Tuesday, 3/10/09 – Meatless Day 11

breakfast: one egg scrambled; 5 oz lemon dill salmon
lunch: bento #309
dinner: giant Fuji apple; lemon dill salmon with cabbage; 1/2 bag of cheez doodles

Those damn Cheez Doodles.

Wednesday, 3/11/09 – Meatless Day 12

breakfast: 1/2 bag of Cheez Doodles
lunch: giant Fuji apple, bento #310
dinner: 1/4 cupcake; Watermelon Jolly Rancher drink

Ummm… yeah, I had Cheez Doodles for breakfast.  And look at that nutritious dinner.  Wow.  I didn’t even realize just how bad that day was (foodwise) until this moment.  Bad.

Thursday, 3/12/09 – Meatless Day 13

breakfast: two egg omelet with mushrooms, peppers, tomatoes, cheddar; homefries
lunch/dinner: Orchard Street sandwich (review to come), green tea

Before you flip out, that sandwich was HUGE.

Friday, 3/13/09 – Meatless Day 14

Before we begin this day, you should know that I took the day off to hang with Rochelle, who was in town apartment hunting for her upcoming move to the Big City.  So… well, it isn’t as bad as it should have been, but it’s still… well.  Yeah.

lunch: 1/2 tuna pizza, 1/2 tuna tartare, 1/2 roasted black cod; a White Lily (review/pics to come – if you’re good, though, you know where I went)
snack: Pommes Frites – honey mustard mayo, pesto mayo, and roasted garlic mayo sauces… mmm (I can’t believe they’ve raised the prices so much; it’s $4.50 for a small now, $1 for each sauce, $2.50 for 3 sauce)
supper: yuzu soda; yellowtail collar; croquette; potato salad; sauteed veggies; miso tofu (must recreate at home!); corn on the cob; bonito onigiri (no review to come; it seems my camera likes to run out of battery every time I have dinner with Rochelle and did so happily on this night… plus this is one of my frequent haunts that I can’t bring myself to review, but I’m sure you probably know what place it is, especially if you read her account of what happened AFTER dinner… hahaha!!!)
snack: almond bubble tea @ St’s Alp Teahouse; glass of moscato @ Vintage Irving

A great day, really (I didn’t mention all the cookie buying we did in between – really, we wanted to eat them, but somehow we were both SO full… strange since normally I can chow down like no other!)  But I’ll be posting more extensively on that another time, so that’s all you’re getting.

This week wasn’t that healthy and wasn’t well-planned at all, unfortunately.  Eating well, especially with dietary restrictions, makes planning ahead especially important – otherwise, you resort to eating crap on top of crap, becoming tempted by other delicious goodies and just… not good.

Well, happy eating!!!

But wait… why am I going meatless?
