If you look closely at the above picture, you’ll see my two friends’ forks as they stab their way into the picture, thinking it will upset me. I only ask people not to start eating before I take a picture if the food is presented nicely! I don’t care if it’s fast food! Sheesh, hmph! It makes the picture more interesting with people in it if the food is rather bland to look at, anyway. Hah!
In any case, on day 3, we had breakfast at the hotel, walked around and shopped some before heading to the domestic airport for our flight to Iguazu Falls. The way the time went, we didn’t have much time once we got hungry to get food elsewhere, so we decided to just pick up some food at the airport food court. I think we were banking on the food having been so delicious at the mall, that perhaps we could get good food at the airport as well!
We were wrong. These empanadas were only marginally better than the ones at the tourist dump we’d gone to the day before. Hard boiled egg and black olives were again apparent in here, which to me at least made the flavor somewhat interesting, but one of my companions picked out her olives. It was still subpar; greasy and just overall not very delicious, but passing at least in that we ate them and were full.
You can just about see the olives and the eggs in this picture…
Ah well, lessons learned, only some places have fantastic empanadas I suppose. Just like New York pizza… some places just do it better.
