Guacamole Basics

October 23, 2006 by Feisty Foodie 2 Comments

Guacamole, as I’ve discovered, is so amazingly easy to throw together, that I’m regretting not learning how to make it much sooner.  With the innumerable tweaks one can make to “make it their own”, here is a basic recipe for it that you might want to play around with and add stuff to in the future.  It’s so versatile, you can really serve it alongside nearly anything.

  • 2 ripe Hass avocadoes
  • thinly sliced onion
  • diced tomato
  • salt
  • fresh ground black pepper
  • juice of one lime

Mix.

No, really, it’s that easy.

From watching cooks on television cut open avocadoes, I imitated them and it was fairly easy to scoop, using a spoon, the innards out into a container and mash.

I’ve heard some people add jalapenos, garlic, parsley/cilantro, or any number of other things, but found myself enjoying the simple recipe at its simplest- just so, with some delicious Tostitos Twist of Lime chips.

Enjoy!!!

Now, here is where I love your cooking and I see that your camera takes GREAT pics….

Me and SKH hate guacamole, no kidding, but between your post and the pic…..I almost want to make it! I am thinking I am going to try to pass this by SKH as , uh….Mexican Spinach dip…LOL..

We are having dumplings tonight – I am thinking about you! –

Thanks for the hint on the camera – I went searching and found the Canon Powershot 8.0 cheaper than the 7.1 – what do you think?

I am buying it tomorrow – Halloween is coming – so if I will see what I get, but the ratings/reviews on yours are OUTSTANDING – thanks so much! [do you mind if I am a copycat?]

    Hugs, Skip!
