I had the opportunity to try some more varieties from Adrienne’s, and so I chose two new types to sample and pass judgment on for my dear readers….
the Romana: prosciutto & arugula
I was very surprised to discover that I hated this one. I had only one slice and in fact, half still remains in my fridge (I’m hoping my boyfriend will polish it off one night while hungry/drunk/whatever, it was $14 so half = $7 wasted!). I guess I shouldn’t be too surprised since I dislike arugula and I’ve never been a fan of prosciutto (despite adoring Serrano ham, which is essentially Spanish prosciutto). The prosciutto was really salty and chewy (I had to hold it down with my fingers in order to bite off parts instead of eating the whole piece in one shot), and the arugula, as expected, was peppery spicy. Overall I just am not a fan of those flavors and so the pie did not appeal to me. My best friend seemed to enjoy it, although we both ate more of the 2nd pie than this one.
(We’re not really that piggy, but normally I can eat an entire 10″ pie [example pictured above] myself, so I thought we should order two and share. I didn’t realize that an old fashioned wasn’t a 10″ round!)
Old Fashioned with sausage on top half
The crust was super thin and light. The pizza overall was not very greasy and was very yummy in fact. I was happy with our choice- there wasn’t a lot of sauce so it wasn’t soggy (though that makes for better reheating later), and there was a generous topping of sausage on the top. I definitely stand by my proclamation that this pizza is phenomenal. I expect to become an Adrienne’s regular… or perhaps I already am, since I’ve been there about 3-4 times in the past month!
