I always find good recipes but I take their ideas and modify them so they’re, well, better. This is probably the least I’ve modified a recipe yet, but here it is.
- Kraft Catalina dressing (since I took this from a recipe, I went ahead and bought it, but I’d suggest making your own combination of ketchup, garlic powder, sugar, onion powder, if you’re bored or so inclined)
- Zest of 1 medium orange (Optional- reserve a little for garnish)
- Chopped green onion
- Juice of same orange, with pulpy bits
- Garlic powder
- Boneless beef sirloin steak
Mix dressing, zest, juice, onion and garlic in large shallow baking dish. Remove marinade; place steak in and flip to coat. Add just enough to coat the steak; place remaining marinade (that hasn’t touched raw meat) in the refrigerator for later use.
Marinate at least one hour (I marinated mine for 2 hours).
Preheat broiler. Make sure there isn’t a lot of excess marinade in baking dish or the sugar in it will burn easily and look icky. Place on rack 2-3 inches away from heat source; 8 minutes on each side for medium doneness.
Serve with sauce on the side for dipping or drizzling. I left whole chunks of orange in the sauce, which were really yummy after all that time sitting in the reserved sauce.
