My first trip to San Francisco included an unchaperoned 8 hours each day (I was 18, and this was the furthest I’d been from home yet), so I signed up for a few guided tours. One of the tours took us to Sausalito, a quaint little seaside village an hour north of San Francisco. The views from this village, the little shops, the completely adorable area is reminiscent of La Jolla (near San Diego), but complete with its own personality.
The tour guide, I recall distinctly, informed us that there was a really great ice cream shop that blah blah came from Hawaii blah blah only two locations in the US blah blah really good fresh ingredients blah blah. I don’t remember much except thinking “Hawaiian ice cream huh… interesting.” I do remember that I liked whatever it was I got.
I remembered enough of this to know that when I was “in the area” (two hours south of Sausalito, actually), I wanted to go back to have some more yummy ice cream! So I hopped in our rental car and drove by myself up north to this cute little town and had myself some delicious ice cream.
Fresh banana caramel chocolate… with no nuts!!! I was thrilled that there were no nuts- too often, this type of flavor of ice cream has walnuts or almonds in it- and proceeded to scarf it down. This was truly delicious and I only wish with all my might that eventually they open a location here in NYC. Until then…
Yvo says: Absolutely must try this stuff. According to the website, there are a few locations in other areas and a few places that feature their ice cream, even if it’s not technically a Lappert’s. GO HERE. MUST HAVE SOME ICE CREAM… yum yum!!!

ahh! I’ve totally been here! haha they do have some good stuff. There’s also a burger joint around there that I haven’t been to but heard great things about too (don’t remember the name right now).
