It never ceases to amaze me how fast time flies, so before I knew it the calendar flipped to April yet again and that meant my birthday was fast approaching. Last year, CT totally surprised me with dinner at Per Se for my 30th. Actually I am still in shock. She got me really good. Since I am getting older she didn’t want me to have a heart attack, so she let me choose where I wanted to go this year. I read a couple months back that the revamped Torrisi Italian Specialties would have a special 20 course historical [...]

A couple months back, Aunt B found herself traveling to California a lot for work again. That meant that CT and I were lucky enough to dog-sit Scout while Aunt B was away. As an added bonus, Aunt B insisted on treating us to a nice dinner to say thank you for taking care of her child. You may remember some her previous thank you’s at Ai Fiori and El Parador Cafe. The choice of restaurant was left to me once again. Her only request that it be a place more in line with the former than the more casual [...]

Recently, CT & I celebrated our two year anniversary. As such we had to find a nice restaurant to celebrate the occasion. We have found that Jean Georges does a fine job with his various restaurants to celebrate a variety of occasions whether it be CT’s Birthday or even Restaurant Week. We have heard some good things about Perry St. and decided to check out this restaurant in the far, far West Village. Jean Georges’ son is actually the chef de cuisine of the restaurant. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? The restaurant is located in [...]

After our fantastic meal the night before at Jean-Georges, we met up with CT’s family to continue the birthday celebration. This time we only went to a two Michelin starred restaurant, Marea. Yvo went a couple months back during her birthday celebration week, but back then it only had one star. 5 Michelin Stars in 24 hours, does that make us gluttons? CT says: No, it just makes us really lucky people! Marea also has a three course plus dessert prix fixe, but only for $89. Cheap compared to JG! CT’s Dad, TL, and I opted for the prix fixe. [...]

Well, it’s that time of year again, CT’s birthday! The only problem with that is trying to figure out where to go for dinner to celebrate. After some intense investigating, I decided Jean Georges would be the best bet. I had never been to a three Michelin starred restaurant before, so this was a great opportunity to celebrate all fancy-like. We ate at Nougatine aka the bar room outside JG last winter for restaurant week and had a great lunch. I figured now would be the time to enter “the inner sanctum.” CT says: Am I the luckiest girl, or [...]
