Robicelli’s Gourmet Market

October 8, 2009 by Feisty Foodie 7 Comments

I’ve totally raved about Robicelli’s cupcakes before, but here’s some beauty shots of my recent trip (after eating at Ba Xuyen) anyway.

IMG_9788

AWL’s pretty raspberry lemonade cupcake!

IMG_9787

My totally awesome chocolate turtle cupcake.  Oh my gosh, when I bit into this, it was like I died and went to heaven.  I don’t think I’ll ever get over the fluffy, cloud-like frosting that so far, I’ve only found at Robicelli’s.  Mmmmmmmmm.  Amazing.

IMG_9790

I don’t think Keywee is quite as good as Layla (any Cupcakes Take the Cake readers will recognize the reference!), so I kept mine in the upside down cup to protect it.  Honestly, she didn’t even really try to sniff the cup.  I think she KNEW.  😉

IMG_9794

“Rawr! Give me cupcake!”

IMG_9796

“I will be all EMO and hope getting this shot encourages you to give me CUPCAKE.”  (It didn’t.  Dogs shouldn’t eat people food, imo, and definitely should not be eating chocolate, which is toxic to most dogs.)

If you’ve been reading my blog for more than a minute, I’m surprised you haven’t yet gone.  They recently added a couple of tables and stools to one side, creating a cafe area for those of you locals to sit and eat and enjoy their wonderful prepared-foods!  Go and enjoy!

Robicelli’s
8511 3rd Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11209

(I’m so behind in posting, that I wrote the above, then visited Robicelli’s two more times before it got posted.  So now you get tons of food porn.)

Allison’s amazing butternut squash soup

IMG_0059.JPG

Wonderful spread of cheeses – I forgot the name, dammit, but the one on the bottom was incredible!!! Completely spreadable and delicious!

IMG_0061.JPG

Lamb chops crusted in pinenuts… tender and another hit

IMG_0063.JPG

Roasted brussels sprouts, eggplant, broccoli salads.  All very good.

IMG_0064.JPG

Sicilian egg salad sandwiches… I stupidly forgot to try these but they sound super tasty

IMG_0065.JPG

Pork belly BLT… I did NOT forget to try these, and they were outta this world

IMG_0145.JPG

Still warm apple cider donut – $1.50

IMG_0146.JPG

A little less cakey than I prefer but still incredible.

IMG_0147.JPG

Bananas Foster cupcake… mm, mm good – $2.50

IMG_0148.JPG

I can’t get over how creative this is… banana split cupcake – $3 – banana cupcake topped with vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate frostings, when you buy it, they ask you if you want “the works” then top it with whipped cream, crushed cookies (not shown on this one), and a maraschino cherry.  I’m going to assume it was good, because after I snapped a photo, my boyfriend inhaled one, then bought two more to take home.  Yeah, that’s an endorsement from him if ever I’ve heard one 🙂

Honestly, if you read my blog ever, you should already know how much I adore Robicelli’s.  It’s in Bay Ridge, on the exact opposite end of the train from me, and yet I’ve been there, hmmm, maybe 6 times in 6 months?  THAT’S A LOT FOR ME.  I just don’t go to Brooklyn!  Ringing endorsement.  If you haven’t been already, you are seriously missing out.

IMG_0150.JPG

And look – there’s even a dinner special currently going on for $9.99 – so for those who want to try a bit of everything, here’s a way to do it without breaking the bank.  You’ll thank me later because everything is delicious.

Happy One Year Anniversary to Robicelli’s, and here’s to many more!

The above pictures (up to the donut) are from the one year anniversary celebration at Robicelli’s, to which I was invited.  The donut & cupcake photos are from the day of the 3rd Avenue Festival in Bay Ridge, to which I was invited by the Robicellis such that I could guest-judge their sandwich competition.  Competition was fierce – and delicious – but ultimately, the best sandwich won out – a delicious concoction from Sarah of The Main Ingredient, and I urge you to go and get one yourself, as it’s now on the menu for the next year.

Gabby & Toby just informed me they will never visit you. (The no human food thing is what did it for them. Though they don’t get chocolate, grapes, or onions either). I told them that was fine. I wasn’t paying for their airline tickets anyway, and since they refuse to get jobs…whatever.

Anyhow, I big “WAAAH” is eminating from me. I WISH I COULD GO TO THIS PLACE. My mouth watered chocolate turtle cupcake, drooled at the apple cider donut, and flooded at the banana split cupcake. I wish I had smell-o-vision.

Well, you know who licked her screen about 2/3rds of the way in.

    Lammmmmmmmmmb chops! Yah baby.

[and it is a misnomer that all chocolate is toxic to dogs. Processed chocolate isn’t – candy bars, cocoa, cake mixes, frosting – but pure baking chocolate with no additives is – just so if someone’s pup eats a snickers or a reese’s this Halloween no one has to wig out]

Holy crap you make our food look good.

We have the 9.99 dinner special every day, and we deliver in the Bay Ridge area as long as you order $10.

The cheese on the bottom is called Pere Joseph. I have quite a bit in stock now, so let me know the next time you’re coming by so we can set some aside for you.

If anyone wants to try our sweets but can’t make it to Bay Ridge, we’ll be appearing at the Fierce and Sweet Bakeoff benefiting NY Cares in Williamsburg this Sunday (www.fierceandsweet.com). We’ll be debuting our “Chicken and Waffles” cupcake.

This is ridiculous! I live around the corner from this place and you’ve been more than I have! I absolutely have to make this a priority!!! CUPCAKES! CHEESE!!! I stopped in when they were about 6 months old–looks like they have added a lot of stuff. “I want to go to there!”
