One random Monday night, Hubba Hubby and I were walking down towards the WTC when I both realized I was hungry and saw Locanda Verde. This place has been on my list forever, so I got excited and dragged him inside the dark spot. There was a long wait for a table, so we instead went to the surprisingly not-totally-packed (but still busy) bar and situated ourselves for a few snacks.
Foccacia came quickly and while overwhelmingly oily, slightly salty, was crisp goodness, especially when lovingly topped with our next dish.
BURRATA I am sorry but I can’t see that on the menu at a nice place (and sometimes at regular places too) and not order it. This one came with golden beets, regular beets, and was scrumptious. Not as wonderful as at Il Mulino, but still luscious and rich, creamy. I love burrata…
Sweet blue crab meat on top of pan con tomate (bread with grated tomato) topped with jalapeno… another really great bite. The crunch of the toast with the soft sweetness of the crab and the light heat of the pepper worked together really nicely to make both of us super happy.
Our final shared dish: caramelle or candy-shaped pasta. I was floored by this pasta – I ordered it thinking we’d enjoy it, but I enjoyed it far more than I even imagined!! Each twisted tube was filled with amazing cheese-cream that made me so, so happy. Light, not overly rich nor heavy, just perfect little “candy” bites of awesome, punctuated by the spring peas and meat dusted on top. Both Hubba Hubby and I were very enthralled by this dish.
We’ve both decided that we must come back with reservations and prepared for a proper meal here. It was so lovely and the bartender took great care of us. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed all of our food. Recommend! (Of course, I’m so late to the game that y’all have probably already been.)

what, no BLT?
I expect BLTs in every post for the next, uh, 6 months?
