Torico Ice Cream

March 29, 2017 by Feisty Foodie 1 Comment

I know the weather hasn’t quite warmed up all the way yet, but the weather forecast for this week is super promising and I’m hoping it’s glorious enough that you will want ice cream. I’ve been craving ice cream for over a month now, and Hubba Hubby and I made the very happy discovery that this wonderful local ice cream shop is only a 10 minute walk from us!

On our first visit, peanut butter banana chunk basically screamed my name. They were low in the case — I asked for a cup so I could take it home and eat it after dinner, plus a cone of course, and this was happily obliged. However, the girl helping us handed me this and told me, “there wasn’t a lot of peanut butter left on top seemingly, so I added some from the pump” — that’s the rich extra touch you see there on top, so freaking good. I loved my scoop and then some, and I really appreciated that she’d added the peanut butter — it didn’t need it, but it definitely let me know that the employees there care about the customer’s experience.

The next time there a few days later, I could hardly bring myself to move away from the same on a cone. It was still just as good, just as satisfyingly delicious — chunks of chocolate, intense banana flavor, and peanut butter throughout. YES.

Hubba Hubby ordered the coffee royale, which was rich with coffee flavor and also delicious. I couldn’t choose between the two for my favorite.

Another visit the week following had us gaga over the cherry pistachio, which had tons of cherry in it and pistachio flavor all over so good. We sampled other flavors – they have flavors that are only available in the fall/winter and another list available in the spring/summer – but these were the ones that caught our hearts.

And one more time with coffee royale for me!

Our current 3 favorite flavors are banana peanut butter chunk, cherry pistachio and coffee royale, but I’m eager for the menu to switch over to spring/summer this month* so we can try some of those flavors… but these three are pretty tops!!

Lovely little place that I highly recommend you check out.

*After I wrote this, I had a strong craving for it so we walked over to see if the new menu was rolled out. Yesss it was!! Unfort my peanut butter banana chunk wasn’t in the case… I wanted a milkshake with it! Hubba Hubby quickly sampled his way through much of the spring/summer menu that was on offer, and settled on a soursop cone, telling me how much he LOVED it. I wasn’t as enamored – not what I expected and put me off – but I grabbed a cherry pistachio milkshake and it was AWESOME. Super totally highly recommend, for sure. Is it a $6.25 shake? Yes. Is it worth every penny? That’s up to you to decide… 😉
