As you all know, today is Fat Tuesday aka Mardi Gras, a day for excessive drinking before a lot of abstinence. Lots of people give things up for Lent, but before they do, they indulge to near-excess to send off the ‘lean season’ with a bang.
To that end, Collin made a Carnival Queen for us to enjoy – recipes below courtesy of Ricky Gomez and Crown Royal – to send us into the season in style.
What are you giving up for Lent?
Carnival Queen (pictured above)
Created by Ricky Gomez
- 1 1/4 oz. Crown Royal Regal Apple
- 1/4 oz. Chambord or dark berry liquor
- 1/4 oz. lemon juice
Place all ingredients in a shaker tin. Add ice and shake. Strain into flute and top off with champagne or other sparkling wine. Garnish with a lemon twist.
Napoleon’s Last Stand
Created by Ricky Gomez
- 1 oz. Crown Royal Deluxe
- 3/4 oz. Pimms
- 3/4 oz. Lemon Juice
- 3/4 oz. Simple Syrup
Place all ingredients in a shaker tin. Add ice and shake. Strain over fresh ice in Collins glass. Top off with ginger ale and garnish with slice of cucumber.
Cafe Royál
Created by Ricky Gomez
- 1 1/4 oz. Crown Royal Vanilla
- 1/4 oz. Grand Marnier or orange liquor
- 4 oz. Cold Brew coffee or hot coffee
This drink can be served hot or cold. If served with cold brew pour all ingredients over ice and stir. If served hot pour all ingredients in pre heated coffee mug and stir. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and whipped cream.
Enjoy your alcohol responsibly (or pay the painful consequences, I guess).
Happy drinking and happy Mardi Gras, y’all!!
