This may surprise some people: I’m not a big fan of bars… but I love bar snacks and good sports bars. It’s pretty hard to find the perfect blend of all of these things; a lot of sports bars focus on having TV’s and whatever, so the food is a second thought. Or places with good bar food are all about the food, not the drinks, and have less TV’s than I’d like. Sports bars also tend to focus on beer, which I’ve lately come to find trigger migraines for me (sadface)…
In any case, when I recently attended a press event celebrating a bar that purported to have all of the best of these things, I was pretty skeptical. But I started off with very lovely cocktails – ummm, yes please. Unfortunately, it’s been a while since this happened – and the cocktails rotate fairly frequently – so I don’t recall what the above were. But they were delicious and mine had watermelon in it, which is obviously no longer in season.
I can’t see deviled eggs on a menu and not order them, even though I am consistently disappointed. As I was here. Oh well – it looks like they’re no longer on the menu anyway…
Crispy fingerling potatoes were much better… I liked these.
I loved the brussels sprouts with apples; it was the perfect combination of crispy bitter sprouts with sweet apples.
The lime agave wings, however, stole my heart. Holy crap, these were delicious – a smack of spice, super crispy; these tasted like Korean fried chicken but slightly more sour. I REALLY loved these… a LOT. Mmm…
The baby back ribs with ancho BBQ sauce were also awesome. Dessert Zombie enjoyed these the most, I think – ever so slightly spicy, a deeply flavored sauce, just perfect. Almost chocolatey in its velvetiness…
Last but not least, the crab gratin with old bay toast – another winner. Perfectly dippable and lots of crab mixed within the cheesiness, this is another perfect game day eat.
Sorry for the weird pictures- it was super crowded in the back bar area that we populated. This may be my new favorite bar, though; there were booths in the back that boasted TV’s at each one that you could control the channel – umm, yes please perfect for game day snacking and drinking!!! Loved most of the food, loved the vibe, and will definitely be back.
In fact… I think it’s time for another happy hour… hmm…
I highly recommend checking this place out. It’s slightly out of the way of most offices and homes, too, so hopefully that means it doesn’t get ridiculously stupid crowded where you can’t move. I don’t like that. That makes me a grumpypants 😉
Obligatory GO BIG BLUE!!! … even though we’re terrible this season. And last. And… sigh.

Crab gratin with Old Bay toast? I AM SO ALL OVER THIS. YAY! New Thanksgiving appetizer. 🙂
Looks like a good time. I love any bar that serves devilled eggs.
