Because I am a glutton, directly after the last noodle place, Dessert Zombie, Cheese and I headed to Super Taste, where I’d previously enjoyed the noodles – minus the door opening and repeatedly blasting all the cold air into the small store. Funny enough, this time, we were seated in the very back next to the kitchen and there was this giant heater going… but every time the door opened, cold air still blasted through the restaurant! Thankfully, the door didn’t open that many times.
Per my request, we started off with the dumplings. Unfortunately, they don’t do them fried, but steamed… which were sufficiently tasty, especially with the dumpling sauce, but weren’t better than the previous ones – the innards just weren’t quite as flavorful as we all wanted.
DZ ordered the Mount Qi noodles, a bowl for which they are rather famous. The broth was super flavorful – his complaint at the last place had been un-flavorful broth – and he thoroughly enjoyed his bowl.
I ordered a bowl of the beef noodles, and failed to photograph the bowl with my dSLR when it first landed on the table. No matter – what’s interesting is that it was immediately apparent, at first bite, that these noodles were far superior to the previous place. Springy, with a great chew to them, a great complement to the tasty broth. And yes- the broth at the last place left something to be desired, while even this simple beef broth was very flavorful and tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed my bowl – but struggled to finish, so took about half home. Let’s just say the noodles don’t hold up well to reheating – they broke into pieces and were kind of an un-tasty mess. But y’know, just don’t be a super glutton and try to eat two bowls of noodles and 8-10 dumplings in the space of an hour, and you should be fine.
In this mini-noodle-palooza, the clear winner was Super Taste.
But now it’s time to pit Super Taste against the other winners: Sheng Wang and Lam Zhou…
Stay tuned for the final noodle-palooza (which hasn’t happened yet, so not sure when I’ll report my findings…)!

Super Taste wins for broth and noodles. The beef wasn’t very good but did not matter with all the spicy goodness.

I agree with everything said. I would combine the noodles here with the fried dumplings back at Kuai La Mian. The noodles themselves were better, the broth was better, and my pickled mustard greens in my soup with Chinese BACON was just plain fantastic. I just wish I had more belly room.

When are you free?
I’m not sure, I googled it and it was something I’d never seen before. But it sounds like something I’ve eaten!
