Week 5
Golden rainier cherries – my favorite; crispy pork belly, soft boiled egg, greens and boiled potatoes.
This is when I decided that I can’t eat chunks of meat in my lunches – it makes me feel sluggish and lethargic in the afternoon. This decision led to eventually deciding to cut out meat entirely from my lunches, with occasional forays into pescetarian lunches.
Cooked greens with fried shallots; cherries and more cherries; lobster with lobster butter noodles and fresh peas, corn.
Love these noodles – A-sha Dry noodles. Much better than instant noodles, tastier, though they take a little longer to cook!
This is the “Seriously, you shouldn’t let me pack my own lunch” lunch – the Chef had gone to Seattle for some personal business, so I slapped together some stuff. A cup of water… a container of the beer&ketchup braised hot dogs I’d made… some green chili braised kielbasa… corn, potatoes and greens in the square box… a roll with butter I picked up from the bodega, and a plum.
Yeah I ate it all. I dipped the bread into that ketchup/beer mixture and it was gooooood.
Grape tomatoes, lobster, mashed potatoes and cooked greens.
Further proof I shouldn’t be left to my own devices: I took a brick of ramen, cooked it, then tossed it with chili powder, fresh peas and sliced hot dogs.
And it was good.
As always: questions in comments will be answered in comments!
Happy bento, everyone!

It’s really not that bad once you get in the swing of things! Good luck, keep us posted on your progress 🙂

I’m liking your weekly overviews. Your feistybento archives were a significant inspiration toward getting this household beginning to bento.
Warning: the blog where we’re posting bentos is rated R … because it also shows cat food. Some of those pictures are NSFE (Not Suitable for Eating).

Thanks! I’m so happy to report that at least a handful of people started to bento “because” of me, which makes me so, so thrilled to hear about. 🙂
