Kettle Chips Reduced Fat

September 21, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 5 Comments

I’m sure I’ve mentioned my propensity towards chips.  I’m not a sweets kind of gal (ha, some might say “OBVIOUSLY”) but I love crunchy, salty things, and chips are right up my alley.  I’ve enjoyed Kettle chips in the past – love how crunchy they are – so when they launched a reduced fat line, I was excited to see if they’re just as good as the originals.  I can honestly say that I didn’t notice the loss of fat – they’re just as crunchy, salty goodness as they used to be.  The one “complaint” I have is that the salt & vinegar one isn’t as vinegary as one might expect; in my limited experience with that flavor, it’s usually super sour, and these were just not very sour.  I ate them happily still – they don’t taste like “diet” chips at all – but they were by no means a flavor I’d recommend for those who like salt & vinegar for the vinegar pucker.

I definitely recommend these for people like me who like salty snacks but don’t want to always eat lots of deep fried fatty things, and hate pretzels.  40% less fat!

I was sent these by Kettle brand chips; opinions expressed within are my own, and I received no monetary compensation for this post.

I had the reduced fat kettle chips 2 weeks ago. I think the regular flavor is really good. I didn’t notice a drop off in taste at all.

How are they reduced in fat? Is it the kind of oil they use?

If the flavors are the same as the regular ones, then I’m excited. These are my absolute favorite brand of chips.

I believe they use a different type of oil to fry them, though I’m not entirely certain – sorry!

I like Kettle brand chips!! I usually got NY Cheddar whenever needing a filling lunch at Pret.

I’ve have the reduced fat in the past and they are fine.
Looking at the ingredients, you really can’t tell but also leads me to believe it’s the oil they are using too.

Reduced Fat – Ingredients: Potatoes, safflower and/or sunflower oil, sea salt.
Sea Salt – Ingredients: Potatoes, vegetable oil (safflower and/or sunflower oil), sea salt.

Also, the website lists only the above flavors for reduced fat.
