Sauza Blue

May 25, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 1 Comment

After enjoying my liegeois at Nespresso Boutique, I headed a block over to The Apartment for a Sauza Tequila event.  CT and TT last went to an event in October and seemed to enjoy it, so I looked forward to my ‘ladies who brunch’ after my ‘ladies who lunch‘ with StB.  Speaking of StB – after taking care of some business, she joined me for the event.

As soon as we walked into the space, there was a bar on the right waiting to serve up some drinks.

Instead, I walked straight to the back to see the table layout for this fabulous brunch.

Before long, I was handed a piece of Canadian bacon strata.  Really tasty and something to make a big batch before a brunch so you don’t spend the whole time in the kitchen cooking.

I grabbed a pear ginger fizz that had been rimmed with pink sugar crystals – fun and fancy-looking!

Toast that had been cut into the shape of words – MOM and DAD here – is a cute and fun way to jazz up the brunch table for special occasions.

A bright and pretty caprese salad made using grape tomatoes, boconcini-sized mozzarella, and chiffonaded basil, makes the perfect brunch dish.

Another great brunch dish: bagels, here pre-sliced and layered with tomato and smoked salmon.  I might just leave out platters for people to make their own lest the bagels dry out or some people not want something on them, but all the same.

Three tiered servers save a lot of room on the brunch table.

More cocktails!

Full list of the drinks being offered.

Another brunch must-have: bright and pretty flowers!

The biggest takeaways from the event were definitely the importance of finding ways to make things ahead of time so you can enjoy your brunch party.  Even the cocktails we enjoyed could be made in pitchers ahead of time, so there would be no need to play bartender (or hire one) for the day- just pour, sometimes over ice or not, and go.

About the drinks: I didn’t find any of them too strong – sometimes, with tequila, I find the taste overwhelms anything else in the drink, and can’t enjoy it.  In this case, though, they were really well-mixed; a good combination of flavors that didn’t fight with each other to rise to the top and instead worked together.  Like!

At the end of the event, we were all sent home with bottles of Sauza Blue.  I will definitely be adding this to my bar and playing around with making my own cocktails!  (Something I’ve been meaning to post about… my teeny toe dabble into the world of mixology, ha!

Please note that this event was courtesy of Sauza Tequila. I received no monetary compensation for this review, nor was I obliged in any way to post about this event, positively or otherwise. This is my own opinion and I feel it was unbiased; you are free to take from this what you will.
