Mitsuwa, again

April 20, 2011 by Feisty Foodie 17 Comments

On our way back from the lovely Ms. Hungry’s (Mrs. Meat & Potatoes now I guess?) wedding, Dean & TC – who graciously accompanied me on the drive to/from the wedding locale – wanted to stop by Mitsuwa, having never been in the past.  Mitsuwa virgins?!  So I punched the address into the GPS and there we went for some Japanese grocery shopping and grub… after they both stuffed themselves silly at the hotel breakfast buffet.  Silly boys.

We wound up all getting food from Katsuhama, where I’ve posted about twice – what can I say, I love deep fried meat?  This is my huge lunch set, Berkshire pork tenderloin.

IMG_1328

Huge plate of cabbage with it.. some Japanese potato salad too.

IMG_1330

Tender cut of pork, so good.

IMG_1332

TC’s miso cutlet, which had a bit too much miso on it for his taste.  The sauce sort of overwhelmed, I think.

IMG_1334

Dean’s curry katsu, the special of the day.

IMG_1335

I think, again, it was a little too much sauce.

IMG_1337

Small cube of tofu came with my meal too.  Not bad, drizzled simply with soy sauce.

To end the meal perfectly, we all got cups of green tea ice cream… huge and just a few dollars.  So good!  Because I’m lazy, TC went up and got this for us, and I found out later they had BLACK SESAME ICE CREAM!!!  I was so excited that TC again went up to go get me a sample… my friends spoil me 🙂  And it was so good, if I wasn’t so full I was ready to burst, I’d have totally gone and got a whole cup for myself!!!

I love Mitsuwa… and I just ran out of Japanese rice so I may find myself back there sooner than later!

Yvo says: The food options are Mitsuwa are plentiful, though I find myself frequently sticking to the same few vendors because that’s what I like.  Again, missed out on taiyaki (the red bean or custard filled cakes) because we were too full, but I know I will be back… and eventually try them!  Yum!

We can go together if you want, take the shuttle bus out there. Driving there was painful.

Mitsuwa is totally awesome. You could spend days just wandering the aisles and finding interesting Japanese foods.

I had the special of the day, chicken curry katsu. Dean’s dish was the miso pork. The chicken curry was aight. Thanks Dean for covering lunch.

I like my green tea so the frozen treat was a good end to our meal. Black sesame would’ve been a worthy alternative too. So full afetr ingesting all that food since breakfast…

Thanks again for being the get-away driver and for popping our Mitsuwa cherries. Next visit will have to be to the Ramen place!!

It’s all good in the hood.

Thanks a lot to Dean for covering our lunch that day.
We both inhaled so much bacon at the breakfast buffet that morning and still ate like this! 😛

Ahem, I will always be HUNGRY, thank you very much.

Anyway, I’m due for a Mitsuwa trip even though I still have plenty of ingredients left. I refuse to take the shuttle. Drive, it is.
