Jarritos + a Contest

I was recently sent a large box of Jarritos sodas to sample.  I was surprised to learn that Jarritos, a brand of soft drink I’ve seen at every taco truck I’ve gone to – both in California and in New York – is a line of drinks with all natural sugar, and a lot of them are also all natural flavoring as well.

Working my way through the box of all the different flavors was a lot of fun, and I definitely came away with some favorites.  I really liked strawberry, and the citrus flavors were pretty good as well.  I still have yet to drink the tamarind and jamaica flavors – I’m a little nervous, to be honest – but I really enjoyed many of the flavors.  Mango was another good one… though I wasn’t a fan of toronja, which I thought was blood orange until I saw in English in small letters “grapefruit” (I also hate Fresca, so…).  Ah well.  Nice to have a brand of soda that’s somewhat easily accessible by me that is all natural sugar!  No high fructose corn syrup – just cane sugar in these drinks.

Also, there’s a contest going on now through 12/31/2010… check it out here!

Please note that these products were courtesy of Jarritos. I received no monetary compensation for this review, nor was I obliged in any way to post about this experience, positively or otherwise. This is my own opinion of Jarritos and I feel it was unbiased; you are free to take from this what you will.

I was wondering what Jamaica is but wiki it to Hibiscus tea.

I haven’t had a jarritos in a while. Last time was while eating soft-shell tacos (No wonder I don’t drink the sodie too often.)

I LOVE JARRITOS! I’m not really a ‘soda person,’ but I drank way too many of them when I lived a year in Houston–they were crazy cheap. Yes, it’s sugar water, but it’s delicious sugar water! The mandarin was always my favorite. YUM.

Yep, these sodas are definitely readily available in California. They’re on every taco truck, Mexican fast food and markets. I like the fruit flavors (pineapple, strawberry, orange…but not the guava because I have nightmares of guava since I was a kid the neighbor had a tree and when the wind would blow the smell came my way and just made me want…) and jamaica. But of course, homemade jamaica is much tastier even though it won’t be bubbly but you can control the amount of sugar you add to it. Sometimes at Costco they have the Coca Cola or even Pepsi in glass bottles with real cane sugar instead of corn syrup, imported from Mexico.

Try the Tamarindo! It’s my favorite. Not too sweet, pretty delicate taste. Then, again, I also love the Toronja…

cool! definitely want to try these. I’m a big fan of GuS sodas, which are also naturally sweetened by cane sugar!
