NYC Cravings… again

Hey look!  The NYC Cravings truck is recommended by Midtown Lunch 🙂

IMG_9983.JPG

My order of “porken” – if you request “porken” you receive both a piece of chicken and a piece of pork for the regular price.  w00t!  Love good deals!

They’d run out of rice by the time I got there but the girl working there was kind enough to scoop every last bit of rice out for me, which turned out to be enough.  Mixed with the pickled mustard greens and hey, look- a tea egg (bottom right)! – it was really good and I was really full.  I like the chicken (which I didn’t try last time); very flavorful and a crispy skin with very moist meat.  The only thing I’m not a fan of, which isn’t their fault, is that I can’t eat the entire meal with just my fork – call me lazy or call me prissy (because I don’t like getting my hands dirty – I used the knife for much of it but for the last little bits of the delicious meat, I picked it up with my fingers, haha).

As for the egg, which I’d previously not tried, breaking it up with my fork and mixing it throughout the rice really brought the dish to a new level.  The yolk became almost creamy, while the bouncy egg white added a new texture to the meal, and the whole egg was mild in taste for a strong counterpoint to the salty pork sauce.  WIN.  Definitely adding a tea egg in from now on… sooo good!

Yvo says: Honestly, the food is very tasty and for $7, I was completely and utterly stuffed.  I definitely recommend getting this – and adding on a tea egg for $1, bringing the total to $8 – especially if you tell them “porken” and get both meats for the price of one, which makes it an absolute steal.  While I personally work close enough to go to Chinatown for this for a much cheaper price, I still foresee frequenting NYC Cravings because… it’s there.  Come on, you know some of you are so lazy you don’t go more than a block for lunch.  Chinatown comes to you with this truck, what are you waiting for?

Check their Twitter for location, changes daily.

PS Also, the more people who go when they are in the Financial District, the more likely they will make the Financial District a permanent location in their rotation. PLEASE help me bring them permanently to the Financial District!!!
