Jane

For a recent Saturday brunch with the BFF, we decided to go to Jane.

I ordered a peach caipirinha, which was pretty tasty and boozy enough that downing the remains before we left provided me with a nice buzz with which to walk around Crate and Barrel.  Mmm.  Overpriced household goods and buzzes… good for the economy.

Wanting to stay light, BFF aka Little Twin Star (LTS) opted for the salmon salad, which came as a grilled piece of salmon over soba noodles.  It looked really good and she enjoyed it a lot, but we both commented that we wanted something a bit lighter even.

Since I’d foolishly consumed a not-small breakfast that morning, I opted to keep it small and ordered the salmon and avocado tartare with soy-wasabi citronette and wonton crisps.

I found this combination to be extremely tasty and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I just wish there were more crisps to scoop the mixture up, or something.  It was pretty darn good though, and we agreed that we should go back and order from the proper brunch menu instead.

We also wanted to order “milk & cookies” this fab looking dessert that had giant cookies and a cup of what looked like milk, but we were too stuffed to go for it.  Darn it.  Next time, definitely though… it looked really good.

Yvo says: Some really good offerings here for reasonable prices (if you don’t go crazy with drinks).  I will definitely be returning to sample more goodies, and I will report back.  For now, I’ll give it a recommended rating – I can see it getting a bit too loud inside, which might detract from the atmosphere (as it was, on a Saturday, it was busy but not uncomfortably loud).  Otherwise, service was pleasant, food was good, atmosphere appropriate for brunch with the girls.
