This past weekend, on his way to my place, my boyfriend stopped by Martha’s Country Bakery to surprise me with this, what he says the counter girl said was a volcano something or other. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a shot of the inside, but it was basically a chocolate cake base (mehhh), a creamy topping above that, with lots of macerated strawberries scattered throughout. The strawberries and creamy topping (heavier than whipped creaming, lighter than pudding, not really custard… does that help?! lol) were quite yummy, but the chocolate shell and cake were blehhh.
As you can see, it continues to be one of his favorite bakeries, definitely his favorite in the Forest Hills area.
Speaking of which, anyone know of any good Italian bakeries in the Forest Hills area? He really wanted a cannoli the other day, but I couldn’t point him in the right direction… I know there’s a Hungarian or Bavarian bakery only a block away from me, but that’s about it… thanks!!!

You must do a review of a full meal sought out from 7-11 or the like. No Joke. Jus Do It!

looks so pretty!
I would have loved a chocolate mousse instead of a cake inside
