So, I’m back from Argentina: Buenos Aires & Iguacu Falls. With my realization that last time, in Greece and Turkey, I took way less pictures of my food than I’d have liked and now can’t remember what the heck we ate besides kebabs, I set out with one goal in mind: take pictures of every meal. I totally succeeded, with one exception: I purposely didn’t take pictures of two breakfasts since the hotels provided them and I ate the exact same thing the day before, literally.
Since it comes out to be quite a lot of pictures, I’m breaking it down by day, and in some cases, an actual review will accompany since I went to a few places I feel comfortable recommending… Gosh, food is SO CHEAP down there. Maybe compared to NYC only, but some really great meals were had for way less than it’d cost for me to buy the same ingredients and cook myself!
Day 1: two legs of an overnight journey to Buenos Aires via AeroMexico (pretty decent airline, as it turns out)
Sorry in advance for the blurriness! It’s hard to hold the camera steady on a shaky plane!
Dinner around 9 pm. Our flight took off at 5 pm, so I’m not sure why it took them 4 hours to serve dinner, but I was pretty much zonked out the whole time, so I was fine. (Also I’d scarfed down a huge serving of pasta prior to taking off, after moving furniture all day, so…)
From top left: some tiramisu wannabe thing that I kind of liked; a hard dinner roll; potatoes, meat, and some spinachy veggie; a salad. It was okay, I never expect too much from airline food, and it didn’t offend me much.
Back to sleep for a few hours, technically day 2, but according to my camera, about 3 am. This was on flight 2 of the journey.
A 2nd dinner I suppose?
From top left: some sort of desserty thing. Again, I liked it, though I couldn’t figure out what it was. A glass cup for an after dinner drink – apparently AeroMexico has a decent liquor selection that’s complimentary, though I refused since it would interact with my flying medication. Hard dinner roll; rice; beef, and some veggies; a salad topped with cheese???. Again, decent enough food, it didn’t disagree with me and I was happily sated, enough to go back to sleep until breakfast.
Breakfast, at close to 9 am EST on Saturday, February 16th. It was closer to noon in Buenos Aires, where we landed about an hour after eating this.
From left: Eggs, top is plain with beans and cheese; then closer to us in the pic is scrambled with what I believe was tomato sauce or kethcup. Standard muffin, another dinner roll, and some fruit, which I greedily devoured. A decent meal, though I still have no idea what the eggs really were served with…
Not pictured in any of these was the orange juice. I have a weird addiction to airline orange juice, especially on international flights – I still have fond memories of Alitalia’s reddish orange juice for how sweet and delicious it was. Ah, the orange juice.
Next up: our first meal in Buenos Aires!
AeroMexico receives a not bad, recommended rating from me in terms of friendly service, comfortable flight (I wouldn’t say it was comfortable per se, but it wasn’t so bad I wanted to cry… that was Aerolineas Argentina. My knees freaking touched the back of the seat in front of me. I was ready to go hysterical when the guy in front of me leaned back: I have somewhat severe claustrophobia!) and food served. I would fly AeroMexico again…

Thnaks so much for the information on Aeromexico. I am going back to Buenos Aires , and triying Aeromexico, instead of Mexicana.
Your review is far better than what I expected having been in the Mexicana flight to BA, the food you described is like been at the Ritz.
