Fresh Direct Promo Code: Free CHEESE

December 19, 2006 by Feisty Foodie 4 Comments

Last week’s post of yet another Fresh Direct Promo Code was so popular, I thought I’d post yet another one. It’s another freebie. Enter code “COMTE” at checkout to receive an entire pound of Essex St. Cheese Co. Hand-Selected Comte *free*. Alternatively, if you’re not a fan or have no idea what the heck that is (like me! I think it’s like Swiss, and I don’t like Swiss!), enter code “PARMESAN” for an entire pound of Parmigiano-Reggiano (aged 2 years) for an entire pound of that *free*! (FYI, I ordered a pound of this Parmagiano a few weeks ago when they had it on the President’s Picks sale, for $9.99 a lb. – it’s usually $13.99/lb. – and this is truly delicious, wonderful stuff. Great for grating, and tasty sliced as well! It’s holding up pretty well, despite my best efforts to eat as much as possible… Hmm, that could explain my weight gain!)

The codes expire 12/24/06, and as usual, you must order the regular minimum of $40. Enjoy!

PS As usual, if you want to show some appreciation, leave a comment, drop me a line, or better yet, see what’s under my archives? Above my labels? 🙂 Thanks!!!

PPS In response to the question of where do I get the codes: Fresh Direct emails them to me, along with other promotional offers. It pays to sign up for their newsletter 🙂

actually i also signed up for the newsletter, but they never send it to me. i called them and ask for an explaination, and it seems like some area code will get the freebie while some don’t, and even within the same area code, my neighbor got them every week and i never got any- they probably have a tracking system to make the decision of who they want to send the code…

In Australia I pay about $50 a kilo for Parmegano Reggiano, I don’t know how that compares. It seems though yours is alot cheaper. Grana Padana is it’s cheaper little brother and I pay about $17 a kilo for it. Just as good for all recipes. I have a big family though so we have to budget.

You live in my favourite city in the world, you are very lucky. I love the states. Especially Manhatten 🙂

Squishy – Hmm, according to my calculations using the internet and its handy converters, that comes out to about USD$17.81~/lb. for the Parmagiano-Reggiano, so it’s a bit more expensive than here, but not that much (unless you’re buying large quantities; I find a pound goes a long way for me, but I’m a household of 2). I didn’t figure out the Grana Padana you mention because it’s significantly cheaper- I’m imagining that’s on par with the Romano offered here, it seems to be about the same price (using very vague mental calculations). I love NYC too~ born & raised! It’s a great city… but I’ll visit Australia one day, all the food bloggers there say it must be so, with the wonderful food they always talk about!

Anonymous – There’s one email that goes out, one with a code and one without. It seems very arbitrary because I didn’t order for a while and they sent me a code asking me to come back (it was for $25 off my next order, actually). My roommate- yes, same address, same zip code etc.- does not get codes at all in the weekly email, but other than that, it is the same email I get. It doesn’t make sense to me but I’m not going to question too deeply lest they take it away and I can’t share it with everyone! 🙂 I know that doesn’t help at all, but I hope you enjoy the codes!
