I actually posted about this place nearly a year ago exactly, and didn’t really enjoy my experience perhaps as much as I could have – much to my brother’s chagrin. Snorlax actually recommended it to me, and he was extremely flabbergasted how I could have not enjoyed it as much as he. This was compounded by my food nemesis also loving it and repeatedly telling me the past few months how awesome this place is and how do I hate it. Well, Snorlax finally made plans with BF to go here, and I was roped into going along for the ride. [...]
RUB BBQ

I’m a strange bird. A place can be on my list for quite a while, for whatever reason, and for no solid, real reason will it jump to the very top. And so I found myself at RUB BBQ one slightly rainy night… Weirdly enough, I used to take dance classes across the street once a week for about 6 months, but I never managed to cross the street and try it, though this night, I got up off my couch and dragged my lazy butt into the city to have dinner with a friend. I’m a sucker for wings, and appetizers, and fried foods, [...]
Blue Smoke

I’ve mentioned Blue Smoke in the past with regard to Citi Field – their stand there used to have really delicious chipotle wings that they’ve since removed from the menu (yes I’m still bitter). But I’d never visited the actual restaurant, and wanted to, so I grabbed three friends and headed over there. Which 3 friends? Actually, the three friends I have that have never said “No, that’s too much food, we shouldn’t order so much” to me… I know these are not clear pictures – sorry! We started with housemade BBQ potato chips, served with a side of… blue [...]

After writing up my post on Bouchon Bakery at a Starbucks on Broadway (don’t ask me which one- I’m still not sure), Hagan of 93plates and I headed up Broadway to Big Nick’s. I don’t think either of us was really ready to eat another meal, but… what can ya do? This sign over our booth told us what was what.If that wasn’t clear enough, there was this one hung over where I sat. There were a ton of cute little signs/sayings up around the store that I appreciated and added to the divey but local joint place atmosphere When [...]
Stew Leonard’s

I’ve mentioned Stew Leonard’s a few times before in various instances but never really posted about the cooked food they offer there (aside from their New England clam chowder, which I’ve raved about plenty). Well, a few weeks ago, the BFF and I took a trip up to the outlets (where I fell in love with this awesome handbag… sigh!) and on our way up, swung by Stew’s for lunch. There’s a pay-by-the-lb. ‘buffet’ serve-yourself area, a deli counter where you can order goodies (like we did), and a soup serve-yourself area too (which we also did, but I didn’t [...]
