Vegas Gluttony: Bally’s Sterling Brunch Buffet

HB and I have been to Vegas together a few times (sometimes with the girls, sometimes with the BFs, sometimes just us two), and have talked about checking out the Bally’s Sterling Brunch (supposedly the best buffet in all of Las Vegas) quite a bit.  However, when other people have been with us, they have hardly wanted to fork over the cash, so we’ve always opted out.  With just us two, though, we were like, well, why not, let’s see what the fuss is!  The Sterling Brunch – reservations recommended – costs $85/person and – yes, you read that right, [...]

Vegas Gluttony: Carnival World Buffet at the Rio

Oops, I forgot to take a photo of the outside… but it’s pretty easy to find.  If you take any of the FREE shuttles from Bally’s/Paris or Harrah’s to Rio (you don’t have to be staying at any of those hotels to take the free shuttle!), it drops you right in front of the entrance to the casino that leads straight to this buffet.  And if you’re really nice… well, you can email me and I’ll email you a coupon for this buffet, $5 off per person in your party up to 4 people.  (Yes, I’ll email you the coupon [...]

Recipe Fridays: More Ways to Eat Salmon (Lemon Dill Salmon & Salmon Tacos)

YUM!!!  Don’t know if you noticed, but I’ve been eating a LOT of salmon.  Partially because I can still eat fish, and partially because I had a blood test done recently and they told me I was low on the good kind of cholesterol (low overall, actually, but they seemed to be confused about how to handle that), and that I should consume more OMEGA-3s.  The woman who conducted the test (done through Cigna, my health insurance provider) was lovely but seriously didn’t know how to handle this situation.  She then listed what I could do to get more Omega-3s [...]

Mmm… those aren’t burnt bits, I assure you.  Just extra deliciousness… (Seriously, they’re not burned… it’s this silly story about how I went to buy soy sauce and well, my mom bought me a bottle last time and said, “This is the good stuff to use,” and when I went to the store on Sunday, I bought what I thought I remembered her getting me: premium dark soy sauce.  Turns out she’d gotten me premium soy sauce; the dark stuff is super dark.)  Mmm… even more delicious is the side that goes with it.  No.  Wait.  They’re both super delicious.  [...]

Throwback… Rewind 4 Years (Baltimore)

I was digging through my personal blog and stumbled across some food entries.  Thought I’d amuse you with them… (I added the links to the related posts; The Feisty Foodie didn’t exist back then).  February 22, 2005 BF and I drove down to Baltimore, passing through Philly on the way down to get cheesesteaks at my favorite place and on the way up to go to Morimoto.  Here is the food run down, with side notes:  Saturday, lunch: Jim’s for cheesteaks, the line wrapped around the block but was well worth the wait.  DELICIOUS.  Arrived at our hotel at night [...]
