I recently had the opportunity to offload – I mean, share my wealth of goodies with a friend, AWL – who semi-recently moved into my neighborhood. Actually, a brief moment here to mention that more and more people I know are moving into the Forest Hills area… mostly because it is freakin’ awesome, and more people should! I’ve become a quick fan, almost a regular, at The Side Door @ Beacon since they opened a few weeks ago as a relatively inexpensive lunch alternative to the “real” Beacon. Side Door started with an exemplary burger and the Mr. Pink’s Double Dog, and recently expanded to prepared salads. As a denizen of Midtown during the workweek, I get kind of excited whenever new, tasty, inexpensive lunch options open near the office. I posted recently about The Side Door @ Beacon, taking on the cheeseburger to great happiness. But the limited menu has a second big lunch option: Mr. Pink’s Double Dog. It’s a Wednesday in Midtown, and I’m bored with my usual rotation of lunch options. Time for a new place! Beacon, the restaurant, has been around a long time, of course.
