New burger places seem to be popping up all around me on the Upper East Side. Yes, they’re usually a new outpost for an existing restaurant, but I’ll take it. More inexpensive, decent comfort food options! GO Burger is owned by the BLT Hospitality Group, which owns all the various BLT restaurants around the city as well as a GO Burger truck and a GO Burger restaurant in Midtown. PS and I walked across Second Avenue to the Upper East Side location, with its garage-door storefont (rolled up, naturally, for business). They opened months ago, but until a couple of [...]

When it was announced that Neely’s was opening in the Merchant’s space, KC was very excited as it’s in her ‘hood. Beer Boor was even more excited apparently, as he made haste and went just as soon as it opened. KC made reservations for a group of us to go about a month into their life, to wait out the kinks and let things shake out the way they might. So it was in early August FBM gathered for a meal there. KC and I were first to arrive, so we took seats at the bar to wait for the [...]

I found myself in Brooklyn for food again recently – apparently, the way to get me to go to Brooklyn is proffer a Groupon; so Corner Burger was the destination. The lure? POUTINE. TWELVE DIFFERENT WAYS. My dining companion ordered a burger topped with pickled jalapenos, roasted red peppers, chipotle sauce and pepperjack cheese. But to start, we went with fried pickles. Piping hot when they arrived, once they’d cooled down a bit, had a great crunch to them. The breading was a little weak, but I found these pleasant enough to munch on and dip in the accompanying ranch [...]

After the MomTrends event, FeistySis was still hungry… Since she rarely ever gets out to the city to hang out anymore (product of working in LI, living in LI, and having two kids!), I suggested we walk over a few blocks to Hill Country BBQ. However, on the walk over, she decided she’d rather go across the street from Hill Country and hit up Hog Pit NYC. Since I’d never been, I thought heck, why not? It sounded interesting, and looked like a dive/biker bar, and I’m cool with that… FeistySis had never had fried pickles before, so when I [...]

We like ScoutMob. The girls and I like to go out on Fridays, but it gets very expensive, so we’re constantly looking for deals and ways to save money while still enjoying ourselves – especially with a wedding in Hawaii coming up *wink*, every penny counts! So when a recent ScoutMob came up for Rare Bar & Grill in Chelsea, we dutifully trooped over to check the place out at 50% off (up to $25 value). (That’s one of our biggest problems; it’s 50% off, with a limit to the discount amount; with a group of 6-8 girls, we reach [...]
