Every Thursday (and sometimes other days as well, I admit), I park myself in front of the TV for a few hours. Dinner is a necessity, and I have these adorable trays… so I Reinvent the TV Dinner and make myself something yummy to eat in a tray that I can place on my lap (or on a pillow on my lap, because sometimes dinner is HOT). Here’s the latest in my Reinventing the TV Dinner series.
I’m not sure when I put this TV dinner together, but I do know it was delicious… buttery goodness.
First up: leftover Vidalia onions cooked in a ketchup or something mixture. My brother-in-law made a big batch of these and handed me a container after dinner one night. Sweet deliciousness.
I was experimenting with my cookie cutters and cut out bread pieces. Here’s two bunny heads that I cooked in a pan with butter and garlic.
More leftovers: mashed potatoes my sister made, topped with pulled pork.
These are the bread pieces I’d cut the bunny heads out of. I tried to do a variation on toads-in-the-hole/eggs-in-a-basket by adding eggs to the center, but I beat the eggs with a bit of cilantro sauce (which I’ve been putting on everything lately because I LOVE IT SO MUCH I KEEP MAKING IT I MUST HAVE IT IN MY FRIDGE AT ALL TIMES), and that made them sort of leak through the bread and make more of a French-toast-esque type of dish. Still tasty, but I know next time to use the standard cracked egg, not beaten. I cooked all that in butter, by the way… 😉
The last compartment… oh, my. A can of simple mushrooms, drained and cooked in butter with minced garlic, a bit of dried parsley… sooo freakin’ good. I literally made this every day for a few days before I started to feel sick from all the butter. I had to stop. Hahaha.
What’s next? I don’t know. More butter? Please, no… it’s summer time. Salads and soups and sandwiches…
What do you think I should make for next week? Please note, I will be watching the likes of Wilfred and Louis CK while eating it… or just before since those two shows start at 10pm, hehe.

I’ve got a plate like this for my 4 yr old. It makes me think of TV dinners and cafeterias (in a good way!). I love this segment girl!

Me too please! I always have to buy a bunch for a recipe that needs just a few sprigs… and I never know what to do with the rest. (And that’ll be happening again this weekend!)
