All Star Weekend 2013

July 12, 2013 by Feisty Foodie 4 Comments

Sorry this is my first post in a while – but I promise, I’m getting back into it and have some upcoming surprises for y’all… seriously! Stay tuned!

In the meantime, follow me on Twitter and Instagram for photos of what I’ve been eating… and updates like this one.

Y’all know how much I love baseball. And food. So combining both of them is a no-brainer for me (thus, I am writing a book on stadium food around the country! – still looking for a book deal, ahem!) – and this year’s All Star Game is at Citi Field, home to my beloved baseball team, the New York Mets. How exciting!

More exciting is that I am a lucky, lucky girl who’s actually going to be at the game! Yay!

And even more exciting – especially for all of YOU – is the below press release I just received (sorry, I barely have time to breathe today, much less rewrite what someone else wrote perfectly succinctly): food, baseball, free Wi-Fi!

To gear up for MLB All-Star week, Time Warner Cable is offering more than 1,000 additional free WiFi hot spots around New York City. To celebrate its growing network, Time Warner Cable food trucks featuring MLB all-stars and alumni will visit various NYC neighborhoods to serve up free WiFi and baseball and regional themed food throughout all-star week, spanning from July 12-16.

Athletes such as Darryl Strawberry, Rollie Fingers and Clayton Kershaw will be serving up food that include but not limit to Taste of Cincinnati’s 3-way-chili, Taste of Arizona’s Hot Diggity Dogs, Taste of Kansas City’s BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and of course, Taste of NYC’s Pizza. All proceeds will be donated to the Robin Hood Relief Fund to support those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.

Full list of food options, locations and schedules: http://www.timewarnercable.com/en/residential-home/events/twc-events/mlb-all-star-week.html.

What better way to spend a hot summer day than to re-live the glory of baseball stadium food, donate to charity AND be connected to free WiFi?

*Back to me: so get out there and get some food, support a good cause, and be sure to watch the All Star Game on July 16. Then, on July 17, otherwise known as “the day major league sports in the US all rest” – cook something yourself 😉

Cheers!!!

Congrats! Now when are you coming back to Nats Field? I think I can swing a 4 hour trip north to get back to DC. giggle

For you? Worth it. I’ll treat to the bratwurst. 🙂
