Dominique Ansel Bakery

May 17, 2012 by Feisty Foodie 18 Comments

I’ve posted quite a bit about Dominique Ansel Bakery, but here’s another one…

Dominique Ansel 3 01.jpgChouettes, which were airy puffs with sugar crystals on the outside. Light and tasty but I won’t order these again – not to my fancy.

Dominique Ansel 3 02.jpg Dominique Ansel 3 03.jpgFresh chocolate chip cookies that tantalized us with the scent, so we had to grab one and my oh my, these were fantastic. Soooo good, warm, and slightly cakey in the center with a chewy edge… mmm.

It appears that stopping by Dominique Ansel pre-road trip is becoming a tradition… yes, this was the day before I headed to DC (posts to come). I also picked up a few croissants for the trip, which I know were appreciated by DLS (though I didn’t get to eat much of either, boo).

For more Dominique Ansel coverage along with location information, check here and here.

I went again twice in the past 10 days, but I won’t be posting on those. More croissants – which, if you buy too many and don’t eat them all before they go stale, are great cubed, then soaked in an egg+Sriracha mixture and fried in a pan with meat (bacon, sausage, whatever) and whatever veggies you have on hand – a cookie, madeleines, and yum… Friday afternoons are becoming my time for a DA visit 🙂

Ha! No, I’m holding the camera. You think I’d let someone else touch my camera?

I tried your choc chip cookie one of those days. I don’t think it was fresh from the oven but it was really good. This place is really growing on me. I like that it’s a French bakery. I want more cannele!

The cookie was really good when it was warm.

I wish they had baguette sandwiches but understand DA is a boulangerie. Otherwise, I’m more of a Italian bakery fiend. ;P

Hahaha! They have sandwiches… just no baguette as far as I know. I think this is more a patisserie than a boulangerie. I just went to La Boulangerie in Forest Hills – we should go sometime.

Have you visited the new Schmackary on 45th and 9th? I think they bake more cookies throughout the day – at least it seems that way – though they just opened last week, and they sell cookies and just about only cookies.
