Bizarre Foods Contest!!!

November 3, 2008 by Feisty Foodie 8 Comments

Time for another contest!

(I’m sorry for the lack of updates, work (the job that pays me enough to keep a roof over my head and, y’know, eat, that is) has been psychotically busy.  I took last week off to celebrate my birthday – oh, the feasting that was involved! and the dieting that must commence! – and coming back to stacks and stacks of paperwork is never, ever fun!  I’m trying to get another post up ASAP – one that DT is dying to see go up – but no promises, no guarantees…)

Well, you guys wanted it, so here it is.  I mentioned the possibility of having a contest if enough people wanted one, and you did!  So here we go.  All you have to do is post the answers to the following three questions in the comments section (and leave an email address at which I can contact you).

  1. What state is the host of Bizarre Foods, Andrew Zimmern, from?
  2. The Samoan apple that Andrews eats is also known as…?
  3. What was Andrew’s favorite Bizarre Food from Russia?

Bonus question for tiebreaker: In which city does Andrew eat a whole baby pig, accompanied by deep-fried pig ears?

ALL OF THE ANSWERS (and more!) can be found on the Bizarre Foods official website.  I suggest you get crackin’ if you want to win:

DVD containing every episode from Season 1!
An autographed poster of Andrew, the hilarious host of Bizarre Foods!
… and maybe a little extra surprise 😉

Good luck!

The contest will end on November 12, at which point, I’ll check everyone’s answers.  If more than one person gets them all right, I will use random.org to choose a winner!!!

Happy eating!!!

Unfortunately – I am too quesy of stomach to watch the show, but I am sure my 11 year old could answer every one of those quesitons she loves that show.

Good luck to the winner! 😀

    1) Andrew is originally from New York and currently lives in Minnesota with his wife and child.

    2) Vi – a relatively small green and round fruit, similar to an apple, which is “eaten hard and has a sharp refreshing sort of taste.”

    3) Pickled Lamprey…Ditto Jonah.

    1. From New York (and he went back to do a nice episode with Anthony Bourdain). He lives in Minnesota (and he did a nice episode at the State Fair where he ate all the delicious fried foods you can imagine).

    2. The apple is a vee (vi?). One of the less bizarre things he has eaten.

    3. He really loved the picked lamprey. Don’t know how that would be. I guess it depends on how the pickling went. I can deal with most pickled things.

Bonus: He ate it all in Spain. He ate a lot of stuff in Spain. I guess late nights at tapas bars will do that for you. He seemed to have a really nice time there, and I think it will be my post-bar trip.
