TT says: My first post of 2011. Happy New Year!! I hope you all have a great year. For the past couple of months, CT & I have been trying to get together with MT, of mapo tofu fame, for yakitori. For those that don’t know, yakitori is the Japanese version of grilled meats and vegetables. It is especially focused on offal such as chicken hearts and gizzards. It has been a while since, CT & I had yakitori, so we were really looking forward to it. Yes, we did have Indian Brunch a couple hours before and the FBM [...]

Another Midtown Lunch Happy Hour, another swing by Menchanko-tei post-drinking… Hansen ordered a seaweed salad to start and proceeded to mock me when I took a picture of the dish. Then he said “it tastes like a briny wash of the sea and is delectable” – I couldn’t tell you if he was joking or not. I’m sure it tasted fine. I dub thee… NBS (New Boo S** – hey, don’t complain, it could be a LOT worse, considering you’re a Phillies fan!)… and BFF opted to split this yakitori sampler platter. I heard no complaints so it must’ve been alright. Ramen was ordered. Ramen was eaten. Someone else’s ramen. Someone else eating their ramen. I [...]

A few weeks ago, I noticed this place open next to Sushi Park and Pommes Frites, which I noticed while walking by because the exterior was super brightly lit. And look at that sign! So bubbly and happy. How do you not want to eat there? Especially when they have giant kettles of beer for $19. I don’t know what kind of beer, because I don’t drink beer, but CT & TT seemed to enjoy and appreciate this special. Since BF and I had literally just eaten at PIE, we opted to get very little. I started with the bacon yakitori [...]
