Recipe Fridays: Bulgogi Lettuce Wraps

As I mentioned yesterday, I had lettuce coming out of my ears at one point.  Hungry made the comment that she’s used lettuce leaves as “taco shells” so I set out to do just that.    I had a ton of scallions from my CSA as well, so that was the topping.  BeerBoor gifted me a large jar of almond butter, so I doctored that to make a sauce as well.  But you want to know what the protein was… it’s so simple, I almost shouldn’t even mention this.  A package of Trader Joe’s “bool kogi” (bulgogi, marinated meat slices).  [...]

Vlasic Farmer’s Garden Event

Thanks to the lovely Jackie Gordon, I was recently invited to attend the Farmer’s Garden Event hosted by Vlasic.  Upon entering David Burke Kitchen, I was greated by slices of toast and jars of tomato/eggplant/ricotta to spread on said toast.  Love.  Next to it were lotus chips, surprisingly tasty since I dislike lotus root generally.  And scattered everywhere were jars upon jars of Vlasic’s new line of pickles called Farmer’s Garden. UnFancy Food Show 2010

This past Sunday I was dispatched, on short notice, to attend the UnFancy Food Show, a celebration of Brooklyn’s food scene. It moved this year to the Bell House, a spacious venue near the Gowanus Canal. On this blisteringly hot day, dozens of vendors were set up inside and a few more, under tents, set up shop on the sidewalk in front.
