That photo is from the last regular season game at Citi Field that was included in my Sunday plan (September 25, 2011). This picture is from the last regular season game that I actually attended – September 27, 2011 – courtesy of my overactive Twitter account one day a few months ago. I participated in a Twitter battle between the Detroit Tigers and the New York Mets, and because I helped them beat the competition, they DMed me for my address “to send me an autographed photo of Mr. Met” – but included in the envelope was a couple of [...]

I took FeistySis to another press event, and afterwards we were hungry. Luckily, I’d scouted the area nearby and discovered we’d be right next to Ed’s Chowder House, so we went there – it was pretty empty at 6 pm on a Monday, but that was to be expected. While we browsed the menu, we made our way through the bread basket. There was a jalapeno cheddar biscuit in there that was outta this world – you could see flecks of the fresh jalapeno in it, which gave it a nice bite. Yum! We decided to order a bunch of [...]

When you walk by Luke’s Lobster, what do you do but stop and have a lobster roll? After all the hype and positive press lately, I had to have one. TC and I opted to split one, because we were on our way to get burgers at Brindle Room (review of our experience to come). This is the lobster roll before they cut it in half for us. Funny story: as I picked up my half of the lobster roll, a teeny tiny fruit fly flew into it. I looked at it and debated picking it out, but realized I’d [...]

A couple weeks back, I found out that Anthony Bourdain and David Chang would be having a talk at the 92nd Street Y. I immediately bought tickets for CT & myself before even asking if she could go because I knew she would cancel whatever she had to see them. I told Aunt B about it and she decided to get tickets too for her and her friend, CM. Since it was a weeknight and we were all coming from work, CT, Aunt B, and I decided to grab a bite uptown before the discussion. CM was going to meet [...]

Remember when I mentioned that Fresh Direct facility tour and dinner… and I won a tour of the local farms from which Fresh Direct sources a lot of its local produce? I finally went on that tour, and got to meet Jeff Rottkamp of Fox Hollow Farms. He showed us around and explained a lot of the finer nuances of running a farm, things that would never occur to me – why would they? I don’t know the first thing about running a family farm! – and just amazed us with his knowledge. Here’s a shot of Jeff picking Sungolds. You [...]
