Vegas Gluttony: Bally’s Sterling Brunch Buffet

HB and I have been to Vegas together a few times (sometimes with the girls, sometimes with the BFs, sometimes just us two), and have talked about checking out the Bally’s Sterling Brunch (supposedly the best buffet in all of Las Vegas) quite a bit.  However, when other people have been with us, they have hardly wanted to fork over the cash, so we’ve always opted out.  With just us two, though, we were like, well, why not, let’s see what the fuss is!  The Sterling Brunch – reservations recommended – costs $85/person and – yes, you read that right, [...]

Via FoodBuzz, I was invited to attend a Top Berry Luncheon, hosted by the California Strawberry Commission.  Meant to showcase the versatility of the strawberry, how it can be used in savory applications as much as in sweet, and overall good for you, anytime, any way. Our edible centerpiece I arrived promptly at the Culinary Loft, a space I hadn’t realized existed- it’s so cool, I totally want to throw a dinner party there!, at the appointed time.  Guests were greeted with name tags, place cards, and a glass of sparkling water with a strawberry garnish on the rim.  Awaiting each [...]

Corfu Grill

A few weeks back, my friend Izzy and I met up for dinner after not seeing each other for months.  It happens often with us; we’ll email a lot for a few weeks, then life grabs hold and away we go… then months later, one of us will think to herself, “Oh hey, what’s she doing…” and then we’ll meet up.  I can’t say it’s always like no time has passed, as we get older, things do change, but I can say that I always have a good time, and I value her friendship, especially insomuch that out of everyone [...]

Thalassa crossed my radar last Restaurant Week when a few friends wanted to try it. Unfortunately, due to conflicting circumstances, we didn’t go; then, a few months later, a coworker who was born & raised in Athens went and liked it, so it shot to the top of the list. So this RW, my coworker wanted to go… and off we went. lamb “ravioli” – my coworker and friend both were only meh on this “octopodi” special appetizer $7 this was really good, surprisingly fresh and crispy on the outside tuna “carpaccio” I liked this dish a lot; you can’t [...]

Lamb Shoulder Chops with Rosemary Couscous

Last week, Fresh Direct had a sale on lamb shoulder chops.  Have I ever made lamb shoulder chops?  No… Have I ever made lamb?  Not exactly - that Valentine’s meal was prepared by my sweetie (with help from me, as he is a novice in the kitchen).  But you know, BF really liked the lamb that time, so I’ve always thought to myself that I should make lamb again.  Fresh Direct nudged me back in that direction last week, so I succumbed. At their suggestion, I decided to use fresh rosemary.  Looking up a few recipes, I came up with a [...]
