Writing here has its perks. So it was last weekend when The Feisty Foodie tapped me to represent at this year’s Meatopia, a celebration of carnivorous gluttony with an eye toward locally-sourced, organic meats. TT went last year, so I took one for the Feisty Team this year. Actually I took a lot of photos, so this is one long post of meaty indulgence! Held on the not-yet-opened Pier 5 at Brooklyn Bridge Park, the wide expanse of concrete helped space out the booths and limit the lines. If only it wasn’t so hot and humid! But no matter, I [...]

One of the best things about being a food blogger is meeting and eating with other food bloggers! James of The Eaten Path organizes a dinner every so often, and it’s generally a good time, talking about food, sometimes about blogging, and sometimes… it gets hairy Hahaha. Another great thing is that all of us have different food backgrounds. I mean, I know only so much about food! and on this occasion, we went to a northeastern Chinese restaurant, which means I really know nothing about it. I don’t know much about Chinese food; when it comes to mainland [...]

Before I left for Peru, I was hungry and didn’t want to (really, couldn’t, with the empty fridge) cook, so I headed over to Corfu Grill to nom on some goodies. First up: the taramasalata, or cod roe dip, which is sufficient though still not the best I’ve ever had (in all fairness, the best I ever had was in Greece). Nice chew wedges of pita to dip in it; I’m a fan. With my main course came grilled/toasted pita and yummy tzatziki sauce, a ginormous, tasty salad. Yum!My main course: lamb kebabs, which came with the above plus potato [...]

Once more following Daniel/Downtown Lunch around… it’s been an interesting couple of weeks with the lack of bento and the excess eating out, so I’ve been able to try a lot more of these places. Anyway, The Country Kebab – I’m constantly looking for good kofte like I had in Turkey. Or at least something delicious, whatever! I’m game! Here’s the menu from outside the place. I opted to get the lamb kebab platter. They freshly cook it while you wait, so it does take a few minutes, but whatever. It smelled delicious. You get to choose your sides, too [...]

One afternoon, I lost my head and decided to go to the banh mi cart at 1:15. I was working my way through the entire menu (new post to come) and completely forgot about the madness of the lines. Ah well. In any case, this led me to cross the street, hesitate for a moment, and hit up the cart that’s across the street from 10 Hanover Square (where the banh mi cart is now located). This cart boasts breakfast AND lunch, and I always see people lining up for breakfast, so why not lunch? Some people have mentioned that [...]
