I recently had the fabulous good fortune to be invited to La Maison du Chocolat on the Upper East Side to sample the launch of their Summer Collection. Notably, their Chiberta collection, with adorable artwork adorning the boxes. Isn’t that cute? And of course you can get big gift collections with the Chiberta as well! As soon as I walked in, on my left was this little table featuring the Salvador raspberry mousse cake. What a welcome! This mousse cake was light and airy, so chocolatey without being too heavy. I could definitely eat the whole cake myself, though I [...]

After our detour to Corona for empanadas and ices, we began the long trek up to Forest Hills. Why? Because Hungry had read how much I adored Eddie’s, the ice cream shop in my neighborhood, and really wanted to try it. These are actually pictures from three separate visits though; I introduced five different people to Eddie’s in the past month or two. The first time, after a visit to Salt & Fat, I took AB & SpB over. AB got a cup of ice cream with fudge, whipped cream, a cherry, and… a cappucino. She liked everything enough, and [...]

One of the greatest things about traveling with food-obsessed friends is that they’ll do the research to find places to eat. And so it was that on this trip, StB made one simple request: that we visit Seneca Farms. Coincidentally, it turned out to be so close to our rental house that we could have walked, and passed it many times during our trips in and out of the area for whatever reason… but it was too rainy to comfortably walk the scant half mile. It took me a while to figure out why the place looked so familiar, but [...]

On our way back from the lovely Ms. Hungry’s (Mrs. Meat & Potatoes now I guess?) wedding, Dean & TC – who graciously accompanied me on the drive to/from the wedding locale – wanted to stop by Mitsuwa, having never been in the past. Mitsuwa virgins?! So I punched the address into the GPS and there we went for some Japanese grocery shopping and grub… after they both stuffed themselves silly at the hotel breakfast buffet. Silly boys. We wound up all getting food from Katsuhama, where I’ve posted about twice - what can I say, I love deep fried meat? [...]
Eddie’s Sweet Shop

As I mentioned in my Katsuno post, I knew I wasn’t going to starve by any means because we totally walked over to Eddie’s for ice cream. I love Eddie’s – everything is made in-house, and the staff is hilarious. That night, we were served by a young guy who was no more than 20, who flirted mildly with me and told me all about saving his cat from a racoon attack, though the conversation quickly ended when he asked, “Do you watch Jersey Shore?” and I had to cover my mouth to keep from laughing so hard I spit [...]
