We like ScoutMob. The girls and I like to go out on Fridays, but it gets very expensive, so we’re constantly looking for deals and ways to save money while still enjoying ourselves – especially with a wedding in Hawaii coming up *wink*, every penny counts! So when a recent ScoutMob came up for Rare Bar & Grill in Chelsea, we dutifully trooped over to check the place out at 50% off (up to $25 value). (That’s one of our biggest problems; it’s 50% off, with a limit to the discount amount; with a group of 6-8 girls, we reach [...]

A recent jaunt through midtown found me attempting to go to Bill’s Burger Bar for lunch, but it was super super packed, so I wandered over to Prime Burger… which was sort of nearby. I ordered a black & white milkshake, which came quickly. It was pretty standard, neither amazing nor life altering, but good – just what I was craving. To counter all that sugar, I decided I also needed curly fries… fried perfectly, crispy, crunchy, yum! For JP’s birthday in late December, the gang met up at Rare Bar & Grill over on Lexington Ave for burgers. As we waited for the rest of the gang to show up – BF & I were the first to arrive, surprisingly, exactly on time – I decided I wanted a (gin) martini. No, that is not a martini – I browsed the cocktail menu and found a drink called the blood orange cosmo; Absolut Mandarin, cointreau, lime juice and blood orange puree. But I didn’t want vodka, so I politely asked the server if he could switch both [...]

Recently, the entire Feisty Family was invited to the Bon Appétit Culinary Studio to sample some items from Alexia Foods. Alexia makes a variety of frozen products such as french fries and onion rings in a variety of flavors. What separates them from their competitors is the use of all-natural ingredients and small batch production. The studio was a nice room in the Condé Nast building in Times Square with a fancy kitchen and a nice sized lounge area. The point of the evening was to sample 4 new flavors of french fries and vote for our favorites. Lucky for [...]
RUB BBQ

I’m a strange bird. A place can be on my list for quite a while, for whatever reason, and for no solid, real reason will it jump to the very top. And so I found myself at RUB BBQ one slightly rainy night… Weirdly enough, I used to take dance classes across the street once a week for about 6 months, but I never managed to cross the street and try it, though this night, I got up off my couch and dragged my lazy butt into the city to have dinner with a friend. I’m a sucker for wings, and appetizers, and fried foods, [...]
