Nespresso Boutique SoHo

After my wonderful meal at Jean Georges, I took a leisurely stroll from Central Park West to SoHo, and found myself at the wifi-less Nespresso Cafe.  I’d enjoyed the space during the press event a few weeks prior, but wanted to go back to see what the space was like normally.  I was surprised to discover that it was a sit down cafe, with some light bites and table service… they really want you to focus on the experience of their espresso without distraction.  I found out later that they don’t even allow you to take their drinks to go! Cupping Event at The Coffee Foundry

Being friends with awesome people has its benefits.  I was invited by Esther and Talida to attend an event spotlighting the very adorable Coffee Foundry.  Though Beer Boor wrote about it months ago when it first opened, I’d actually never managed to get over there to check it out.  (I blame its West Village location; I’m hardly ever in that area anymore.)  I was also really excited when I found out that Talida was going to be catering the event – I’ve read her blog over the years when she’s catered friends’ events and the food always looks so amazing [...]

Leaving work at lunch for more than just grabbing something to bring back to my desk is pretty rare. So recently, when I went to meet up with a friend from out of town at Blind Tiger, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and check out a coffee bar nearby I’d been asked to try. Good thing I looked up The Coffee Foundry online before trying to find it; I passed right by before realizing that this was the storefront. As the space is primarily used for karaoke — Karaoke Boho, to be exact — Coffee Foundry [...]

Starbucks Reserve Galápagos San Cristóbal

I’m a bit of a coffee snob. I’ll admit that. I also rarely drink coffee at Starbucks, as there are better options around the city and, frankly, I think I make a better cup of coffee at home with my drip coffeemaker and beans procured from a local roaster or merchant. Starbucks does, however, sell beans, and sell a whole lot of them, and as of a couple of months ago, has moved into what they consider to be the “ultra-premium” market — sourced from exotic locales, these are rare, limited-quantity coffee beans, which of course carry a much higher [...]

Pom Iced Coffee

At the sort-of recent Swagapalooza, I somehow walked away with three different bottles of Pom Iced Coffee, a new product, in my bag.  I blame a certain fellow food-blogger stuffing things in there, but it worked out since I wound up with one of each flavor.  So of course I tried each one…Since I tend to dislike vanilla as the flavor in my drinks, I went with that one first.  Surprisingly, I didn’t dislike the presence of vanilla in the drink; probably because I didn’t taste much, if any, of that.  It just tasted chalky and slightly weird to me.  [...]
