Intermezzo

Close followers of this blog will recognize that HB is one of my closest friends – and for good reason.  We both like to eat and we both occasionally indulge in drink-fests, drunk days, day long events of drinking until one of us gives up.  (Usually not me.)  One such occasion recently went down when we’d both planned to be out of town, but our trip fell through at the last minute, so we both decided to get a lil toasty one Sunday.  We started at Intermezzo, where she ordered a raspberry bellini she liked, and I received a mango [...]

Walking Feast, Round 1

A few weeks back now, I met up with the lovely Rochelle of Sexy Girls Eat for a Walking Feast.  If you have to ask what a Walking Feast is, why are we friends?  I’m just teasing.  It is as simple – and as wonderful – as it sounds.  A feast while walking.  Admittedly, some of our feasting was done while seated, but the eating began around 1 pm and we didn’t part ways until 2 am.  The damage we could have done is far worse than actually was done – I was having issues and apologized profusely to the [...]

After raving about Nobu and realizing that I hadn’t yet sampled black cod at Morimoto, I decided to rectify this matter and revisit Morimoto.  (It was also just a blatant excuse to spoil myself a little further; it’d been a while since I’d eaten at Morimoto – 2.5 years!  How is that any way to treat one of your favorite restaurants?) Luckily, I had a day off scheduled, so after taking care of some personal business, I headed into the city for a leisurely solo lunch.  (Note: I am really enjoying dining solo; I bring a book and read between [...]

La Nacional, Revisited

For a veryvery belated birthday dinner, I decided to take LTS to the very same place I’d taken StB for her birthday lunch.  LTS and I share a love of good paella, so it seemed fitting; when I read, just the day before we were set to go, that La Nacional was having money problems and might be closing down, I was even more eager to spend some money there.  We started with the seafood salad. While the seafood was very fresh tasting, and I loved the abundance of octopus, LTS and I agreed that the dish was less oomph [...]

Spice Market, hosted by Foodbuzz!

I had the good fortune to attend a Foodbuzz Featured Publishers dinner at Spice Market “recently” (October 18, if you must know! – I’m catching up!).  Stacy graciously put together the event, and I had a wonderful time sampling everything that was proffered. When we sat down, a menu was at each of our place settings.  I was surprised when we weren’t asked what we wanted, but instead brought each dish for the tables to share (multiple servings for our large group), which was a great way to try everything on the above menu.  Nice!  I also made it a [...]
