As I mentioned the first time I posted about Five Guys, I’d promised to take a dieting friend to the Five Guys in Forest Hills/Glendale once the diet was over and the wedding past. That time came, so we headed over to grab some burgers, this time I got a “little hamburger” with pickles, pickle relish, mayo & tomato. I still think it’s pretty cool that they put all that stuff on for you – and yes, I like pickles a lot, thus the excess on this order. I decided I really like the smaller burger, since I’m not a fan of [...]

Diners – at least diners the way I think of diners, standalone, have their own parking lots, open 24 hours, filled with drunk young people on Friday & Saturday nights coming back from the clubs, filled with older people, families and yuppie couples in their late 20s that didn’t go clubbing the night before on Sunday mornings… you know, diners – are in short supply in Manhattan. So when I stumbled upon Pearl Diner a few years ago – my gym is on that block, and I was heading back home after a pathetic workout, I crossed onto Pearl Street [...]

I went to Shake Shack twice this week and both times didn’t get a Shackburger. Gasp! I know! But the first time was right after lunch at Pipa for MK’s birthday (brief note: I didn’t photograph the meal, but our service, despite the place being next to completely empty – 2-3 other tables and that’s it – was HORRIBLE, slow, and no apologies or explanation why it took freakin’ an HOUR to bring our food! NOTHING, I will never go there again, it was not delicious enough for that sort of crap). The second time, I went there for a [...]

Guess who’s going to be at the last game of the inaugural Subway Series at the new Yankee Stadium… AND the last game of the inaugural Subway Series at Citi Field?! That’s right, yours truly. To celebrate both series and show support for your team, you can get these cookies at Zaro’s Bread Basket in Grand Central Terminal… which, coincidentally, is where you can also get the trains that go to both stadiums These cookies will be available June 11th through June 14th, during the Yankees/Mets series at Yankee Stadium, and again from June 25th through June 28th during the Mets/Yankees series [...]

I am always on the look out for new carts to try, especially since I stopped bringing my lunch for a while. Exploring the area around my office is lots of fun, and one day, I noticed this cart when I was buying fruit from the fruit vendor next to her. I thought it was a new cart, but a quick Google search shows that she’s been there for at least 3 years. Hmm. Interesting. I have this huge weakness for nachos, so this really appealed to me… The first day, I decided to go for a platter with beef, [...]
