Cucina di Pesce

BB’s birthday celebration came a little early this year, and we headed off to The Met for a scavenger hunt.  While we didn’t win – coming in second place, arghhh – I did manage to score a free hunt, hooray! complete with funny story about me & my psychosis, I mean, psychicness – we did have a grand ol’ time and I’ll once again recommend Watson Adventures for great, well-organized and fun scavenger hunts. In any case, after hunting for a few hours, we scurried down to the East Village for dinner, joined by the significant others.  Per usual for [...]

Sripraphai, Round 2

Sripraphai has long been lauded as the best, most authentic Thai in New York.  When I went last year, I never saw the lines people warned me about, but I hadn’t gone for dinner on a Friday night apparently.  LTS/BFF and I decided to go last Friday and pulled up to see this madness outside the restaurant. Well, it looked like madness, taking into consideration a few things: there is nothing else on that block that these people would be waiting for; the restaurant, while close to the train, isn’t near much else; and do you see how many non-Asian [...]

NYC Food Film Festival @ Water Taxi Beach South Street Seaport

I mentioned the NYC Food Film Festival before and my plans to attend.  HB & SpB decided to accompany me.  We headed there early on Wednesday (the 17th) to beat the crowds, and good thing we did!  We snagged a totally awesome table, and early on, the free food just kept coming out, which meant we COULD have easily filled up on corn dogs and fried cheese curds (OMG!), but we’re nice people – and trying not to blimp up – so we kept it at 1-2 corn dogs a person. While I held down our table, HB & SpB [...]

Lan Zhou Hand Pulled Noodles

A few months ago, all the rage was hand-pulled noodles.  I hadn’t been to any place – since as I’ve mentioned, it takes me a while to get anywhere for new food trends – but recently, when it was pouring rain in the morning, and I just wanted some noodles-in-soup instead of my normal congee rainy day craving, I headed over to Lan Zhou Hand Pulled Noodles.  They were the first place I’d heard of back when the hand pulled noodles craze hit, and being only a few blocks from the congee place, I knew I could get there relatively [...]
