I’ve mentioned Blue Smoke in the past with regard to Citi Field – their stand there used to have really delicious chipotle wings that they’ve since removed from the menu (yes I’m still bitter). But I’d never visited the actual restaurant, and wanted to, so I grabbed three friends and headed over there. Which 3 friends? Actually, the three friends I have that have never said “No, that’s too much food, we shouldn’t order so much” to me… I know these are not clear pictures – sorry! I’ve been planning menus like crazy, trying to make them the perfect combination, and so far… so good. First up: pulled pork, cole slaw, salad to be healthy, dinner rolls, and roasted brussels sprouts with bacon. Nommm?Nommm. Better shot for the brussels sprouts glory – because they were glorious. Complete with dessert! I’ve made this for [...]

Dear friends, do you know what that is? This is a $6 slice of Red Velvet cake. This is a $6 slice of Red Velvet cake with walnuts. Oh, my. Is that not gorgeous? A friend of mine (BB, for those keeping score at home – YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!) just moved very close to Cakeman Raven, so when BF and I went to her housewarming party, I had to swing by and grab a slice of cake or two and introduce the BF to the joys and wonders of the Cakeman. Moist but light, super rich in flavor, [...]
